    Joe Bonamassa... Where to start?

His latest is his best album in terms of consistency but others have the highlights. I love his live work most. His studio albums never quite match him live. Pick up any album. They are all worthwhile .

    Fear of a Blank Planet

Ironically FOTBP is my least favourite PT album but their biggest 'hit'. PT have at least 3 distinct phases in my view, each with their own sound. The initial releases on Delerium up to Signify saw them finding their feet, Floyd meets space rock culminating in signify where they introduce a bit...

    Jon Anderson/ Stolt album

A weekend to digest. Not been a fan of a lot of/any Jon Anderson post millennial work. This however is sublime. He is in fine voice, melodies and tunes aplenty. Reminds me of songs of seven. Arrangements, string arrangements, multi voice harmonies and lush instrumentation. It flows. It plays as...

Greatest Bass Line Of All Time?

Nick Beggs on luminol - owes a lot to Chris Squire but that bass drives the song along at some pace.

    Is Dynamic Compression getting worse?

Does this account for so many of my CDs having a volume sweet spot only at which certain elements hang together and limits the crankability of the music?

ELO live - why no love on here?

Oh dreary me, Lol. Where have I referenced respect and New Order? Read it again smuck. Desperate? No just interested why a music forum had no discussion about a premier music event. the vitriol comming from some quarters is very indicative of a certain musical fascism that is not a pleasant...

ELO live - why no love on here?

If all music was like any one artist I think we would all like to be dead. I find the comments on this thread are more about perceived cool than musical critique or even worse, musical snobbery disguised as musical critique. I find ELO has huge emotional resonance. Happy is an emotion for...

Nothing to exciting, just browsing Spotify and researching Amazon, then on Hoffman site and here.

Sturgill Simpson - Sailors guide to earth

Just received vinyl with free CD. Nice 180 gm. Flat, quiet and clean. This really is a special piece of music.

ELO live - why no love on here?

Granny Pop? An ageist and sexist statement if meant to be derogatory. Well done.

A user's guide to John Zorn

Little love for Spillane? I have found I have had this album in and out of my essential section more than any other. The mishmash of soundtrack, blues and jazz attracts and repeals me in equal measure but when it is on point it is utterly compelling.
