Naim UnitiLite looks like a killer product

It's not the case that market demand is declining in North America–far from it, but rather that earning power has decreased amongst the younger demographic, enough so that imported brands must set a much higher standard for value than previously. There are some great audio brands currently...

    Questionable strategy

Most streamers have that capability built-in-perhaps you have confused the concept of a "server" with that of a "streamer"??

    Rega Streamer???

A Rega-badged streamer, whether developed in-house or using bought-in technology, would have to compete with the rest of the so-called "mass-market" (though eminently specialist) brands. It would also require a complete technical support back-end in terms of personnel costs and ongoing training...

    Steve Jobs stereo system 1982

I can't confirm this, but I suspect that this system was purchased from The Audible Difference, which seemed to be a popular shop amongst the Silicon Valley elite (after various ownership changes, I believe it's now called Future Sound).

the most stupid name in audio

From the Schiit site - –spot on, Mike Moffat.

    Joy Division : Closer - COnfuSIon !!!

B.A.S.E. Record pressing from Italy, perhaps? I have seen that before. Over here, my original vinyl was a FACTUS catalog number, not tremendously bad as pressings go....

Best way to incorporate a Rega DAC to iMac and amplifier

Yes, true–optical is limited to 44.1 / 48 / 96 kHz (though the G5 iMac can handle all sample rates including 176.4 kHz). I'd recommend something along the lines of the Hiface (Evo) or the Audiophileo range of products, as regards a USB-SPDIF interface.

    REGA Cursa 3 Gain Level

Less volume (output gain), more knob turning (less attenuation) is where it's at, from a sound quality perspective.

    Volume matching a myth

It's a question of degree, really. Every wide-bandwidth, wide-dynamic range system (video, audio, or otherwise) operates within a box where the noise/distortion floor is (of course) at the bottom, and the maximum energy pressure level is at the top. Use of the "Master Set" method of...

Naim NAC102 - were there any revision changes?

Subsequent to the release of the NAIT 5 / NAC 112, there was a minor production modification to the fixing of the main PCB to the chassis (Loctite used to allow board to float near to PCB-mount DIN sockets, which are sensitive to microphony). This can be fitted in the field and is a nice no-£/$...

    Naim olive fascia change

The fascia change was gradual–but, more importantly, you'll want to find a NAC 52 with the latest microprocessor-based front panel (about #144xxx and higher). These should easily match an '00 SuperCap.

    Naim SBL New/Rebuilt x-overs.

SBL and NBL PXOs are pre-RoHS compliant, therefore would require new parts anyway for a re-build.

Internal pics of a Naim DVD player

As with any firmware-based mech–confirm firmware version before purchase; also confirm with the device manufacturer if software updates are required to use a different mech or different firmware on original-type mech. IIRC the DVD5 only used the DVS-710A, but the n-Vi also used the DRL-200 in...

    regas in colour

RP1 and RP3 come in three shades of grey (white / titanium / cool grey, lightest to darkest) , but no polychromatic plinths (yet?) Many retailers still have stocks of P3 with colored plinths.

    LINN 'Lemon' anti-CD ad ...

Blind leading the naked really–after all, what is streamed audio? Digital–as in "Digital Streamer". The inability to reliably manufacture disc-based sources is not an excuse to bash digital audio. In reality, good hi-fi could well be sold silently and efficaciously by Trappist monks, quite.
