    Linn LP12s – Fire away!

The pitch stability is not a noticeable thing on most records. However, it is noticeable on certain pieces where a piano + long notes are involved. It's also worth considering I have a dog walking around sometimes and live in a 150 year old house with bouncy floors. I think all I was getting at...

    Linn LP12s – Fire away!

I've had mine for two years. It's a Pre-cirkus/Ittok/Valhalla deck with a few small upgrades the previous owner did -- silver cable, trampolin, etc. Some days the pitch instability, the lack of 45, and the problem with footfalls gets to me, but when I sit down I am always very happy with how it...

    Mike's TD124 thread

I am assuming rubbing alcohol would strip the paint?

    Thorens TD124 Restoration Manual?

Picked up the deck yesterday. Powered it on and it's running at the right speeds and quiet. Friend had his tech look + clean it over quickly, but nothing too in depth. The deck was installed in a console for the past 50+ years. The plinth it is on was from another 124 he had salvaged before...

    Thorens TD124 Restoration Manual?

Thanks for the tip on the blue belt and also the link. I will hopefully post some photos when I have things up and running. It has an ESL S1000 on it currently. Will be using it with my mono set-up for now.

    Thorens TD124 Restoration Manual?

Hello all, I have been graced by the good (or bad) fortune of a Thorens TD124 that fell into my arms for a price I could not turn down. I've long thought of a 124 as a way to reduce my two separate systems into one that could handle 78s and LPs well. I know there are various threads (ie...

    Inexpensive Good Vintage Turntables?

Why not just go with a Technics 1200? Honestly think it's the most versatile deck that you can still find for a reasonable price with some regularity. It's indestructible and does it all -- 78s with a simple mod too.

    Inexpensive Good Vintage Turntables?

You can often find SOTAs for reasonable prices, but most I've seen need an arm installed.

    McIntosh C8 + Quad?

Just wanted to update in case anybody ends up building a mono 78 system. The C8 is the best thing I've done for playing my 78s. It's much much better than any modern EQ i've tried and it works well with the 405 + the ESL 57. Cheers.

    Recommend me a turntable

Yes definitely. I will eventually get rid of my LP12 to just consolidate to one deck that does it all. Thorens probably with an SME arm

    Recommend me a turntable

I would just recommend you get something will all three standard speeds in case you decide to branch out into 45s and 78s
