Nice write up! Glad you enjoy it! I took delivery of a Pontus II last month and in detail terms it easily bests my Audio Note TT2 deluxe, and that's literally just tidal hifi through a CCA. It's the best digital I've ever owned, and 'musical' with it, too.

I've tried a few amps at various price points with my An-E LX HEs, and all have been good. They all have been of a similar sort-of ilk: Audio Note OTO SE (upgraded throughout with AN copper caps etc) - very good New Audio Frontiers 2A3 PP amplifier - even better. Probably best I've heard...

What did you replace the speakers with, just out of interest? Reason I ask is because I had a similar set up myself! A NAF in to Audio Notes...

There are some great points here. One thing I suffer from is an over-active imagination with a lack of any real reference point for where I want my hifi to head. That leads to me buying components I've lusted over, imagining how 'jaw-dropping' it'll be based on reviews I've read, only to find...

Wow, what a tournament. There's so little difference between the teams (not you, Italy...) that it felt like the whole thing was decided on periods of ill discipline.
