    RSD 2024

I went to Piccadilly once for RSD morning, perhaps 7 years ago. Got there at something like 6am from memory and the queue was already round the other side of the block by then. Tbh I enjoyed it as a one-off, got chatting to a couple of people in the queue, and had the pleasure of going for a...

What concert have you last been to #3

Fever Ray at Albert Hall, Manchester last night. Excellent. I've wanted to see them since the first self-titled album but never managed it, and they haven't had a great many UK tours

    The pfm Lego Investment Challenge

I picked up Pac Man with the current offers at Lego. Agreed a couple of items to get to the 220 threshold for the two gifts, some cashback and the double vip points

    Career change at 51

Given you've been in the embedded side of things, I'd suggest looking at the IOT/intelligent industry world and the integration into the hyperscalers (such as AWS). You may find that's the most 'transferrable skills' space within the industry and it is a good area to position within.

Should I buy an EV - real world advice needed.

If considering buying an EV (vs those on company schemes) then insurance costs are clearly an important consideration. But surely there's no need to be concerned with media stories or anecdotes, just get some quotes and it either works or doesn't?

Should I buy an EV - real world advice needed.

Good shout, I'll need to try that. I tend to forget the Google commands except for music. I'd say mine is about 240 in practice. As you say, the single motor (particularly now the MY24 LR) is the more sensible choice in terms of range/price, although I've personally no regrets in going for the...

Should I buy an EV - real world advice needed.

Same. I know this is by no means specific to the Polestar, but I feel far more in control of the car than any previous car I've driven. The OPD allows sensitive control, my brakes are excellent, and the battery weight being low to the ground makes the car feel firmly planted going round bends...

Should I buy an EV - real world advice needed.

Only about 9 weeks into having the car so bear that in mind. I have the performance pack so lose maybe 40 miles of range vs the MY24 long range. But it's fun. And my driving is predominantly local so range and charging speed are not a concern. I am very happy with it. Context - I come from a...

Should I buy an EV - real world advice needed.

My Polestar 2 is on a 4yr company lease. I'm hoping they drop to very sensible figures over the term so I've got a realistic option of buying it out. I don't particularly want to be on an endless lease treadmill. Rob

Should I buy an EV - real world advice needed.

I have an overnight tariff now - Intelligent Octopus - which is 7.5p overnight. It does (positively) lead me to think about scheduling consumption overnight, obviously the car, but also washing machine and dishwater, and minimising, where possible, during the day. I've had my EV for six or...

Should I buy an EV - real world advice needed.

I don't understand the level of passion and investment in the EV vs ICE argument. For the time being, ICE cars are plentiful so it's a choice (subject to wealth). I recently (1.5 months ago) picked up an EV on a 4yr lease deal and it is a pleasure to drive and in terms of fuel costs (I...

    Ceramic coating for cars?

I don't believe they claim to. Surface dirt, bird crap etc, but they'll recommend Ppf if you're looking for stone chip defence. I'm new to this area so reading with interest.

    Ceramic coating for cars?

Same... after only having three cars over the last 20 years (between two of us!) I now have a company lease car being delivered next week. Been looking at the ceramic coating options although of course the websites are all upsell, upsell, upsell...
