Hard to Drive the PMC MB2 SE?

Had MB2's for several years and powered them (easily) with Bryston 14bsst's. Replaced the 14bsst's with an arcam sr250 which drove them easily (and nicely) in my room and to my listening levels (70-80db at listening pos). Much will depend on your friend's room size/listening level preferences etc.

For sale is my really clean example of the legendary EMT 930st professional studio turntable. Plenty of info out there on this classic, vintage idler. TT serial number 41079 – so mid-late 70’s manufacture I’d reckon. This unit was fully refurbished by Herr Hans Fabritius – a former EMT...

    Talk to me about Garrards

I've been using a 301 in a panzer/bamboo high mass plinth by russ collinson, FR64s/b60 and decca C4e for years now. Pretty happy with it. Haven't tried other plinth types (e.g. skeletal) so can't comment on the differences there. Hopefully, will get another 301 up and running in the near...

    Decca carts: John Wright retiring

the mark 4's (c4e/sc4e, 78c, 4rc, others?) are standard mount carts. In terms of arms, you'll get different views as to which type of arm (e.g unipivot, heavy mass) are best suited for decca's but the mark iv's are probably not much different to the others in this respect. And sorry - don't...

    Fidelity Research FR-7f

Damn. Where has the time gone... Dug out the fr7f to test my Neumann smb2 - both which have been sitting in boxes for 10 years or so. On the 301/64s, I must say this is a pretty sweet combination - just so very easy to listen to. Plays hard and dynamic when it's on the recording but just...

Which cartridges do you own/use and why do you like them?

Stereo: decca c4e (x2), fr-7f, emt tsd15 sfl and sph. I prefer the c4e over the fr7f on the fr64s/301 (more presence and dynamics, but the 7f is more smoother overall) and over the emt's on the 930/929 (much better tracking, although a bit too focused on transient speed/attack over body/decay...
