Is dynaudio confidence 20 worth their price???

I called and made a cheeky offer when I purchased mine. We agreed well below the asking price. They got delivered in a large wooden coffin-like box.

Is dynaudio confidence 20 worth their price???

I have listened to various focal, PMC, atc active and passive, sonus Faber, yamaha b&w (including their snails and daleks) and other brands I cannot recall. These were always in a different environment and with different electronics and sources so I would hesitate to compare, IMO the room has a...

Is dynaudio confidence 20 worth their price???

Hi, I would say they are not warm or lush, but pretty neutral / accurate and very fast. Oddly enough, having the subs seems to create a slightly warmer tone than without - I suspect (or hope?) this is the effect of reducing the stress on the mains and also the overall aural perception with...

Is dynaudio confidence 20 worth their price???

I have the confidence 20 with a pair of subs. See my profile for setup info and also some of my speaker history. These are keepers and likely see me until I'm done with audio. They have scale, detail, image very nicely (height, width and depth) and feel very balanced to me. They are pretty...

Packing and moving large, heavy loudspeakers

Can the removal company not make something? Some offer packing services, for instance I moved home from South East Asia to UK many years ago and the removals firm provided cardboard and or wooden boxes depending on the items.

    HDMI - which cable

You don't mention it your TV is high resolution. For 4k or 8k and a passive cable the maximum safe length recommended is 3m. Above that you might want to get an optical cable, though you can find passive cable 5m long. I use a 7m long ruipro optical for my projector. Great cable, no issues...

Interesting video from Danny Richie (GR Research)

Slightly puzzled. The graphs he show have spectral decay of <4ms. Spectral decay for an untreated room will be ~500ms, and for a reasonably treated room ~200ms at the listening position. So why is 4ms bad? Can you really hear that?

A little help from someone living in the USA or Canada

I've used these guys, many years ago. https://www.shipito.com/ Very pleased. They also get bulk shipping discounts from e.g. UPS or FedEx for the international leg and pass that on to the customer.

    Building moving crates for speakers

If you have your own removal people packing your own container then unpacking at the other end I think a wooden crate is over the top. You should be able to source custom made cardboard boxes and use some foam along the top and bottom ends with a small (approx 1") overlap to the sides. In...

    Audio solution for TV

I have a 7 year old TV to node n130 via HDMI cable, then RCA to active Acoustic Energy AE1. Both used off eBay for about £950 all told. The bonus is I can listen to music on the node Spotify or Qobuz. I've set the TV to auto-switch input, so if anyone turns it on it plays the audio, no fuss.

    [WTD] tall speaker stands

Hi, looking for a pair of speaker stands approx 800mm to 1000mm height. These are for my rear home cinema speakers so nothing expensive. I am near Aylesbury, Bucks. Can collect within reason, sometimes venture to West London.

    The dreaded hum is back.

Long shot this, but in my old house the dimmer light switch contributed to a loud and annoying hum through my turntable. I wrapped the tonearm cable in aluminium foil, that reduced it.
