I use an Arcam A38 in power amp mode to drive the front speakers in an AV setup. It has a standby/ on switch in the front that can also be operated via RC.

I'm an LPSU believer too. I have a Mytek Brooklyn powered by a very good external LPSU* in a headphones setup. IMO the sound quality is clearly better than when using its internal SMPS. *6.6A 12v Qualiaphysic

In my case it works really well as a Roon Endpoint, even with DSD 256 files via WiFi. For cue files and SACD ISOs (not supported by Roon) I use its internal player to stream from the Roon server.

A good digital transport/ streamer such as the Eversolo DMP A6 Master Edition can make the Denafrips Pontus II much more articulate.

Thanks. I didn't know that but I intuitively felt that there was no need to use headroom management with DSD recordings considering the obviously lower output level.

I also use Roon's headroom adjustment of -3 dB except when it's a DSD file.

I'm glad that you are enjoying the Node's internal DAC but IME it can easily be bettered sound quality wise.
