I presume you mean de-waxed?
For which there are several technique from ear drops, manual removal, syringing, irrigation, micro-suction (with loupes or microscope), endoscopic micro-suction.. and 'ear candling' - which is a very bad idea.
Yes indeed. Most anglo saxons, probably 90% shouldn't...
Picked one up locally earlier this week.
Nice transaction and a great piece of kit! Really liking the company too.
It's going straight into an Exposure 2010S power amp whose specs are :
Does anyone know what Ref level I should be using from the DAC into this amp? +13 dBu (2v) seems to...
Thanks @Lowand.
I'm actually sorted for a DAC now, so for anyone who may be interested - there is an open box mint 'as new' M-DAC+ at Doug Bradys in Warrington going for a decent price.
WRT the Brooklyn DAC+ @Wendonside2, reliability is exactly what put me on the fence about that DAC. I read...
Yes sorry.. I should have specified exactly - it was the ADI-2 DAC FS I was asking about and I did buy one this evening for £750.
Slightly more than I would have liked but it was local so I could check it out, pristine condition, and RME said they would honour the remainder of 2 yrs mfr...
I'm continuing my search for a DAC with pre-amp ability (preferably with optical out but I've struggled to find one that does that).
Locally I'm seeing a few offered for around £750, but without warranty of course (doesn't seem transferrable). There's one I could demo and pick up tonight for...
The original M-DAC doesn't seem to have universal praise for it's subjective audio performance or reliability. Some say it's attenuator isn't great.
I haven't found many comments on the M-DAC+.
One is available to me at £600 from a retailer, as new with warranty.
Alternatives I'm looking at...
Thanks for the suggestions..
The Exposure XM7 could be good as I'm using an Exposure power amp which I bought off a nice person on here.. so should be some synergy..
Not sure what to do though to be honest. I was quite into having no analogue pre-amp in the chain. Having a total rethink.
I've...
In progress. Cambridge Audio directed me to Richer Sounds so I went back to the branch I bought it from. Their repair technicians (based on symptoms - hasn't been looked at yet) said it probably needs a new main board which is just shy of £400. Not excited by that prospect as it's more than I...
Hi chaps..
I have the aforementioned DAC. I'm checking it atm but sadly I think it has a fault.
I'm looking for a replacement or alternative DAC with preamplifier functionality that is considered on a par or better soundwise with the Azur without spending too much money so likely used...
I hedged my bets and got a 2 year fixed term energy deal just before the energy prices went ballistic - having a smart meter was a stipulation of the contract. I was hoping it wouldn't fit in the box. If I refused the meter, I would be facing several thousand £ in extra costs over the period and...
Smart meter that I didn't really want went in yesterday.
Immediately afterwards I noticed hiss from my speakers.
All speakers, put your ear up to the speaker, you should hear hiss - however after the Smart Meter install it seems a LOT more pronounced!
Is there any technical reason for how a...
IMHO (and after hearing comparisons) it's probably more like 95% of the SQ, and ironically I preferred some aspects ("air", mainly) of the 2M Black in a 2M Silver body, to straight 2M Black.. although the 2M Black sounds a tiny infinitesimally small bit more err.. coherent..?
Realistically...
Thanks for the comments guys, and had already purchased by the time you replied Rob.
I was convinced by the arguments that the body makes negligible difference. Went for the Bronze and fitted it to the 2M Silver body. Running it in now at 1.65g. Sounds awesome!
Lack of surface noise is...
