you dont need a NAS with the pi - plug the USB stick in the PI directly or buy a desktop USB drive (WD Elements or similar) and plug that into the pi instead. Why buy a NAS (which is basically a little server) then plug it into another computer?
The bigger Shahinians need very meaty amps - very low impedance. Definitely try before you buy even with 280Wpc (I tried a pair of obelisk on my 180wpc HH amp and it was as flat as a pancake). That said, they can sound amazing when properly driven.
Are you definitely finishing the CD's you burn? Sometimes they are created as multi-session and left 'open' to add more. The sony may be OK with that, especially if it can handle MP3, CD-RAM or other CD formats - like CD burners in PC's can.
