Not sure about spec but I play through a Bluesound Node 2i using Qobuz High Res files. I also have a Cyrus 8SE CD player. Budget is £800 to £1200 but could probably go a bit higher if there is a significant difference in sound quality. Doesn’t need to have a pre amp or headphone amp function.

The DAC is on loan from a friend so I am in the market for a DAC, any suggestions?

I recently had both Luxman’s at home for a demo to make a direct comparison. See my earlier post a couple of pages back. The Class A had plenty of power and I barely got it past 11 o clock on the volume dial. It had a warm sound, too warm for me, whereas the 509x had more detail across the sound...

Well I’m delighted with the result. I had hoped the balanced cable would be better but it has completely exceeded my expectations. Thanks again for posting the link.

So I thought take your advice and bought these. I have never had balanced XLR cables in my system before as my previous amp only had rca connections. So these cables arrived this morning and I connected them between my Luxman 509x amp and Audiolab MDAC+ and put a Stevie Wonder cd on...........Oh...

The Luxman 509x is now in my system as of yesterday and all good. Sorry for the typo earlier it was the Accuphase E480.

Ok, yes I had the demos last Friday and the dealer has been more than very helpful. I listened to the Luxman 509x, 590 ax mark 2 and the Accuphase E450. I ruled out the 450 as it didn’t sound any better than either Luxman amps and as has been said before the 650 is a big step up so it was...

The dealer chose the speakers because I have a pair of Monitor Audio Gold Ref 20’s at home so we went with the same brand and same speakers throughout the demo.

Can’t say I’ve noticed a difference unless I bi-amp. Going for an integrated now, cut down on boxes

I’ve got a Cyrus CD8 SE at the moment with its own power supply but I was keen on my Marantz KI signature before that. Never really heard many others

Listened to the new Taylor Swift album last night streamed through Tidal, and surprisingly I enjoyed it. Never listened to her stuff before!

The demo is likely to be next week as the dealer is still waiting for the 590ax to be despatched. It’s with another dealer who is demoing it for one of their customers.
