    Neat Elite SX

Not quite your question, but it prompted me to bring my pair of Neat Elite SE, 2003 vintage, up from the basement for a session or two. Delightful speakers - always an enchanting listen. They are beautifully balanced - the highs detailed, a touch sweet, free of excess sibilance or glare. As...

Naim or Rega for Kudos X2?

I haven’t spent enough time with Kudos X2 to speak directly to your choice of partner for it. Seemed like a lovely little tower, but I was drawn to the mid-range of the Cardea C10 at the time. But, since you aren’t exactly overwhelmed with replies so far, perhaps I can speak to some other...

Speakers for Naim Supernait 3 (again)

Agree with Ponty, as above. But you have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to speaker choice for an SN. My personal experience is with SN1 and SN2, as well as Nait XS2. Neat and Kudos have great synergy with those Naim integrateds; I loved an earlier Kudos Cardea 1, and have kept my...

    Graham Audio Chartwell LS3/5 speakers.

Some fall in love easily and often. Nonetheless ardently for all that…. I had the Graham LS3/5s in for audition for a couple of weeks, and thought them a fine example of the BBC style. Could I have distinguished them in a blindfold test from the Stirling V2s I had for a year or so, or the V3s...

    New Rega Speakers - Aya

I think I can see potential for the function of the front panel dropping below the cabinet body; looks like it provides a sort of scaffold for the wider stance of the feet at the front. And may help decouple cabinet from floor. A tripod stance is certainly functional.

Rega Brio3, Mira3, Elicit - much difference at moderated listening volume?

I have both the Mira 3 and Elicit R, had them for some years now. Mostly, I’ve been struck by how good the Mira 3 is, in a small room, with Harbeth P3 ES-2s, and several other speakers around that size within the BBC influenced style of design. Certainly the Elicit R can go further and louder...

    Naim Nait 50

The temptation is becoming unbearable. I’d have a hard time doing without a remote though. Some here hold the lack of remote to be a virtue; likely to make for better sound. That’s as may be, but I take enough exercise without hopping up every time the loudness varies from one track to...

    Loudspeakers That Do It All

Bit of a tangent here, but I went straight to that Tom’s Diner track, from the ‘Solitude Standing’ album. Damn! But that is a fine test for fidelity to the human voice. My little Harbeth P3ES-2s served it up very tasty indeed, other limitations notwithstanding… Thanks for the tip, Joe!

    Who's heard Spendor Classic 2/3s?

I enjoyed about a year with the Spendor Classic 3/1s (not the 2/3s, one size down) found them excellent all-rounders in a room about 3.5 metres by 5.5 metres. I ran them variously with Naim, Rega and Exposure electronics, including the NDX2 streamer/DAC. The size was just right to give me the...

    LS3/5As and long term listening.

Good on Gervais! A scholar and a gentleman. I looked at the link about posting pics, dropped out when I came to the part about selecting a third party host. As to favourite mini-monitors within the BBC ‘70’s research sphere of influence, I reached the point where the differences are more subtle...

Is there a better option than adding a Rega Saturn to my system?

I only meant ‘rest there’ in the sense of remaining 50-prime forever!

    Spendor 4/5 or 3/1 - I’m soooo confused!

for now, I have both the 3/1s and 4/5s in an 11’ x16’ room, listening distance about 7’6”. The extra bass weight of the 3/1s is deployed very judiciously - doesn’t excite the wood sprung floor. The 3/1s seem to enrich the lower mids as much as adding a measure of depth to the bass. A very well...
