    Linn Keilidh speakers

I speak from first hand experience and can recommend Royd Abbots if you can find a pair wherever you are. Used them for several years with my first Naim pre/power system (92&90). I will say however Keilidhs are still the only Linn speaker I've liked after listening to them (that was with Linn...

    Nakamichi repair

Can anyone recommend a UK location to get my Nak BX-300 repaired now B&W have closed their Worthing shop? Ideally around Surrey / S England. Problem is tape played to end but the player doesn’t seem to know and won’t release the cassette. I can hear a motor whirring noise and the light keeps...

    Favourite Intros

Kathaarian Life Code by Darkthrone - you just know something loud and scary is coming shortly after!

    Deep Purple

A few songs give me a pricking sensation in my eyes when I hear them from pure emotion. Guitar solo on Comfortably Numb, Randy Rhoades on Diary of a Madman and When A Blindman Cries - beautiful song by Purple

    Advice on speakers for naim

I had Royd Abbots at the tail end of my 92/90 system (my first foray into Naim world). Loved them if that's of any use to you

    Music you dislike

Not sure what the genre's called but it seems to be a style used in adverts such as banks, where a cheap session singer does a cover of a well known song acoustically BUT really slowly - it's the slowing down that really bugs me. Oh yes plus Rap and bagpipes

    In praise of Darran/Class A

A service of your Naim gear plus a record cleaning machine represent the best value for money spends that I've done. Another satisfied customer of Class A here too

What Is The Consistently Best Band You Have ever seen?

Easy! Motorhead. Never saw a duff gig in over 20 years of concerts. They were by far my favourite band live.

    WitchhatAudio HatPin Cable

I bought the Hatpin for my 52/52Ps plus the XLRs for connecting to my 135s. Plugged both in from box. Initial thoughts, clarity, and sharper sound but bit bright (into SL2s). After few days settling down, brightness went, detail stayed and wider soundstage. Noticed no loss in usual Naim traits...

    Source First - SSD's and CAT6A

I too use a QNAP Nas with SSDs installed (feeds a Naim NDX). I got a noticeable sound improvement when I "max"ed the RAM in the Nas. £30 odd got me 8Gb - easy fit and well worth the money. Why it improved the sound however - I have absolutely no idea.

    New metallica album

I see the Hi Res FLAC download is available at metallica.com but only in US - anyone know where I can buy a legit download in the UK? HD Tracks for example isn't listing it. Thanks

TV optical out into Naim NDX issue - clicks

Anybody any ideas as to why recently (ie over the past 2-3 months), when listening to the TV via the NDX/Naim system, every couple of minutes or so I hear a click - like a "digital hiccup"? It only happens when playing the TV as source so the hifi isn't the problem and it's most noticeable...

Anyone used the Bandcamp site for downloading?

I've used them before and bought some great stuff at sensible prices. If memory serves me correctly, you specify the download format when going through the purchase process.
