2 Avondaled 135s each driving 2 ohms coil in subwoofer?

Thanks everyone. I'll have a look at the module. This is a dual coil subwoofer currently wired together 4 ohms but I could tap each one separately at 2 ohm

2 Avondaled 135s each driving 2 ohms coil in subwoofer?

Thanks. Not sure I followed all that, but it sounds like thumbs down. The amp is not capable of getting near the Xmax of the subwoofer. It is listed as handling 1000 watts RMS. I don't max it out, I don't think. It's more that sometimes in the home theater side you get those surprise low...

2 Avondaled 135s each driving 2 ohms coil in subwoofer?

I suppose. That would involve spending money. A couple of years ago I compared a well respected value for money sub to my existing speakers (no sub at the time) which were driven by these amps. Although occasionally the extra half octave or so made itself known, on music my speakers/amp was...

2 Avondaled 135s each driving 2 ohms coil in subwoofer?

Hi, I'm having some difficulty finding information on minimum impedance for my amplifiers. They started as olive NAP 135s and many years ago I had the boards replaced with the Avondale NCC200. I have a subwoofer I build that has 2 coils each 2 ohms and I drive both (4 ohms) with one of these...

Those who have moved on from Naim.....

Naim 72/140 to 72/135 then Avondaled...now I'm using a Marantz AV 8003 and Onkyo 5000R. I was raised to think Japanese equipment was mid-fi and serious hi fi was american and english, maybe German in a pinch. It's no longer true. The Japanese clearly have always had the engineers and when they...

reattach power button on olive 135

Thanks! That makes it pretty simple

reattach power button on olive 135

I have an old olive Naim NAP 135. The push button is no longer attached to the case. I can power it on and off by holding it in place. How are these supposed to be held on? Is there a plastic clip (that is broken)? Is it okay to glue it back in place? If so, can someone recommend a glue?

    Listening to vinyl through headphones

I have a setup like this. Turntable goes to external phono amp which then goes to any of the stereo line level inputs. Then tape out goes to the headphone amp. You could send the front preamp outs to the headphone amp but presumably these are already going to your regular amp. Also, something...

Does ASR module no longer have LEDs?

Thanks MJS. Stray copper makes a lot of sense. Because of the shape of the terminal there isn't an intuitive way to make a good physical connection as you solder. I actually called Les before I noticed this latest reply. He said the same- as long as I have 25 v I'm good. Like I said, it sounds...

Does ASR module no longer have LEDs?

I agree pop and smoke means problems but since it came from the area of a solder joint and everything is working I really think it was just a bit of stray solder. If a component of the ASR went kablooie I doubt it would still work and work well. I will call him though. Thanks PhilDick, that's...

Does ASR module no longer have LEDs?

I got the ASR module from Les and installed it in my HiCap. The connections are pretty obvious and it seems to be working well with my headline. However, I didn't see any LEDs light up and on close inspection couldn't perceive any LEDs at all. I actually got a little pop and smoke when I...

    Your thoughts on car audio...

You won't get your car stereo to sound as good as your home stereo but I find there is something about the motion and the passing scenery that makes listening more enjoyable. I think sound and vision are linked in our brains and this is why we like music videos and stereo imaging. You can get...

static discharges takes out amp, for a few minutes

YNWOAN, you are correct except I'm not sure the crack is audible through the speakers. It is a quiet, barely audible pop at the record as I remove it from the platter. This is enough to take out one amp. Markt- good suggestion; I just have to decide if it is worth the effort. It could easily be...
