I think the issue here is that Class D is inherently cheaper than class A or A/B amps. Class A/B with high output levels need large transformers, large filter capacitors and multiple output devices which all need large casework. There is an inherent cost in this. You can buy well reviewed 200W...

I tend to agree - silver adds a "sheen" and excess focus on detail to the signal. I suspect part of the reason it doesn't sound right (to my ears at least) is that studios mostly use copper cables and therefore music is mixed and EQ'd to sound "right" with copper cables.

Personally I still often prefer a cassette copy to the original.
