Quick fun Q - In Japan - should I pick up a new cartridge while here?

I've never been to Japan but would love to go there, so colour me envious! I'd definitely pick up a cart or two at their prices.

    Yeah, you're not wrong.

    Blue Note Classic Vinyl Reissues

For all the hoopla about Tone Poets due to being pressed in RTI, I've had plenty of issues with them. Admittedly I've had more grief with Classic releases but then I've bought far more of those (20 vs 7). And I'll say this much: my great copies of Classics are better than any of my TP by which I...

    Blue Note Classic Vinyl Reissues

I haven't been buying many records of late (new or used) but did recently grab Dexter Gordon's "Go" and Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers' "Mosaic" the other day. Pleased to say that they both play nicely with no issues with stitching, surface noise etc. Good albums too.

ReplayGain, is anyone else using it?

Yeah, been using it (and similar) since soon after I first started ripping my CDs and creating a music server of flac files over 12 years ago. I used ReplayGain whilst using Squeezebox server and have been using Roon's Volume Levelling since getting that in 2019. I've found it invaluable and...

    The story of NAD

The first amp I ever bought was a NAD 302 in 1993. Sold it in 2008 and it never missed a beat during the whole time I had it.

    Nostalgic 70's Children's TV

Indeed. And the programme itself could well have hailed from earlier. It's just the eary 80s (1980/81) is when I remember seeing it.

    Nostalgic 70's Children's TV

It definitely wasn't Knightmare. I remember that show well and that came years later.

    Nostalgic 70's Children's TV

So much good stuff in this thread. I wonder if someone here could help name something of which I have a vague memory. I remember being around a friend's house in the very early 80s and seeing a drama in which there was a bloke in a prison cell and in the cell next door there was a giant crab...

Another problem for Boeing 737 Max

Is it me or does Boeing seem to have a bit of a ropey record in recent years? I'm reminded of a tweet from Peter Serafinowicz: "Your safety is our number 4 priority".

(Another) Grauniad article on vinyl revival

Vinyl is back for good and that’s exciting. Don’t let the greed of big labels ruin it (John Harris)

    I did a talk on Hi-Fi tonight!

Inverse snobbery is just as irksome as the standard snobbery IMHO.
