    Ziggy v Aladdin

It had some great songs and sound, but overall it felt patchy. The cover seemed a bit weak - especially the gatefold. I didn't rush to buy it after hearing my friend's copy.

New Pink Floyd Relics double vinyl May release.

Yes. I great collection. Many people I knew had a copy. I had the cassette release.

Love - Forever Changes, what's the fuss about?

I think it's pretty timeless. Obviously it's a product of the 60s, but the sense of it does not date. The sound is lovely and one of the classic sounding records from that era. Fresh, open and I think pretty unique. Interesting arrangements. Intelligent songs. Sensitive, but with a mordant...

    Computers & New Sounds

This wasn't possible before. The planning and the granularity of editing in this 20 min composition was only possible using a computer. And whilst many of the samples are from the old world, it creates not just a new sound but a new way of thinking about music. John Oswald Plexure

    How reliable is Discogs?

    The '76 is a maxi-single https://www.discogs.com/Harry-J-All-Stars-Liquidator-My-Cherie-Amour-Je-TAime/master/622499

    How reliable is Discogs?

Discogs users must only submit things they own or have in front of them (in theory), so if it is not listed it is not proof that it does not exist. Copies I have seen have the Harry label but come in a Trojan-branded paper sleeve. Also, 1976 copies that are on Trojan still have the 1969...

Problem fitting DLS - 710A DVD transport to Primare CD31

I got the new unit today, but I'm not having much luck with this. I replaced the standard drawer with the Primare's drawer, fitted the drive and did a power-up. It then kept gently clunking until I turn the unit off. I hear the same sound with a CD in the drawer and of course the CD never loads...

Favourite 10 albums from 2014 onward

Is that recording date or release date? And what happened in 2014 that made you choose that date?

Miles Davis On The Corner -> Gong?

I like this album. Am I the only person who feels the influence of Alice Coltrane and Miles Davis on Trilogy era Gong?

Rega Planar 1 versus Planar 2

The Planar 2 has an RB220 arm. Those arms are Rega's classic one-piece design and will certainly outperform the arm on the Planar 1.

Trout Mask Replica, Blue Bizarre label

I only have a pink/yellow label Straight copy (which I managed to get a few years back for a good price), but that still beat my Reprise copy from the 70s. So, now I wonder how much better the blue Bizarre might be. I'm sure it was worth what ever you paid for this classic. I've never seen one.

    Of course. Thank-you.

    Magical Mystery Tour doc.

This documentary was shown on BBC4 at the end of last week. Very enjoyable. Paul McC come across well as the progenitor of the film's idea. I've never see the whole film itself, but the documentary showed how charming it was, from the conception, to how it was organised to the actual footage...

Records you don't often play but...

Usually because I do not have the time to dig deep enough or because at heart I don't really like them. Or those that are specialised listening. The songs of Bertold Brecht sung by Eric Bentley. I love this but specialised listening. I like having it. Xenakis. String Qts. I love these but very...
