    Studio cabling

Van Damme generally for live shows and Mogami in our studio. We buy it by the drum and make up cables as required.

    Narrowboat HiFi?

Continuous cruising is definitely still possible, but moving every 14 days can become very tiresome after awhile. Red diesel is increasingly difficult to find on the cut due to the rule changes on what it can and can't be used for. Prices for boats has gone mad in the last few years, I have...

    Narrowboat HiFi?

I have spent the last few years fixing up an older boat up in Thorne. Shall we say it is a rather old girl powered by a semi diesel, and sounds lovely when actually working. For music needs i have a pair of LS3/5a's which work a treat from a Temple Audio Bantam Gold and a raspberry pi with a...

Inspired by Lowther Church demos...modern classy hifi/PA advice sought

Don't get me started on those column speakers, these are often used due to planning restrictions or in church terms facilities. Speakers must blend in with the building and often coloured to match the stonework. Even worse we usually find pairs facing each other on every pillar, which makes...

Inspired by Lowther Church demos...modern classy hifi/PA advice sought

That amount of space will need a bit of thought with speaker deployment. Audience numbers do make a difference as bodies soak up bass energy, be aware that an empty church sounds very different to a full one. I take it that it is stone construction with flagstones, but perhaps of more concern...

Best way to hook up subs?

Interesting that you are not the first to be searching about delay time in KEF subs, there appear to be a few values floating about. Darko suggests 0,5m/s and Kef in one answer 0m/s and in the same answer then goes on to talk about 0.4m/s. Is this significant, perhaps? In any signal processing...

    Down sizing speakers

Another vote for ProAc, as this is what we use in the winter in a small to medium room with a Krell providing the power. So don't be afraid of using big amps with them, but we do use a sub as well.

Advice on an active PA speaker

For a decent active speaker it is hard to better Yamaha DSR range for sane money, which also have long warranties. Second hand then perhaps investigate RCF and in particular the TT range, i have models that are gigged most weeks and are pushing eight years old, which have only been reconed and...

What DAC are you using to connect your Smart TV to your hi-fi amplifier ?

Old Rega via optical works just fine for us.

    Digital piano amp

Roland is also where I would look, if you need to go cheaper you could also consider the Peavey KB1.

Pro-Ject Phono Box DS and successors

Add in a transformer step up for MC duties and it really steps up in the performance states.

    Petrol lawnmowers

Super unleaded isn't being changed, so perhaps that is the best option for the time being. I do wonder how much longer Super will be available though.

    ATC SCM10

The 10's are some of my favourite ATC' speakers. There was a special anniversary addition a few years ago which may be worth looking out for, but they go for serious money. You should be able to get them from around £600 and upwards, depending on condition and age. An area to watch for is...

    What party speakers for 1K?

Kv2 stuff replaced/relegated the TT stuff, although my main rigs are Martin Audio MLA. My favourite KV2 gear are VHD5. 0 and ES 1.0 with double 15 subs.
