    Which Systemdek II

If you like the cake tin aesthetic then don't ignore the Ariston RD40.

    Which Systemdek II

No, it's very light weight and, IIRC uses a ball bearing within to grip the spindle that you release with a spring loaded button on the top. The closest equivalent was the ADC Pro-grip clamp, although that was a fair bit heavier too. Image of Systemdek IIS with clamp and cover from Vinyl Engine.

    Which Systemdek II

This is probably more appropriate in the Classic room. However, both the II and the IIX are excellent decks, although the former seems to be selling for more these days, which probably still makes the IIX a bit of a bargain. A IIX in good condition with either an RB250 or a Linn Basic Plus is a...

    The story of NAD

An excellent amp that while not reaching for the stars in any particular area, just sounded pretty damn good for the money, with most all the facilities you'd ever need, a very good phono stage (and even listenable on MC), and rugged enough that many are still going strong today without any...

    [WTD] WANTED: Naim SL2

They were available in Maple, Black Ash, Cherry and "Rosenut", with piano black available to special order at extra cost (IIRC only a few made). Early Cherry cabinets were much darker and slightly redder (more tinted varnish) than later ones, almost looking like a lighter and slightly more...

    Interesting Tangent preamp

Always wanted to find one of these. There was a very cool looking turntable too, IIRC.

    [WTD] Linn Lingo Mk1

Hi all, I'm after a Linn Lingo Mk1. Serviced or unserviced is fine just so long as it's in good order and with all the bits. PM me if might have something suitable. Thanks, The Mig.

    David Bowie

No, but you're absolutely right about the Italian vinyl. Despite being pressed from the Sterling metalwork, it really doesn't sound like it's the same cut at all!

    [FS] Nakamichi LX3

A fantastic deck, and one of the last of their 2 headers (IIRC the RX-303 was the last) that used the classic Nakamichi asymmetrical dual capstan transport. A friend bought one new back in the early '80s and I recorded a bunch of UD XLII tapes on it. I still have them and they still replay...

[WTD] Apple iPad 7th, 8th, or 9th Gen - Wanted

Hi all, Mum's old iPad2 has finally become unusable so I'm looking for something suitable as a replacement. If anyone has an iPad 7th, 8th, or 9th Gen in good condition, preferably with the box and bits so I can make a proper present of it for her, then please do let me know. Thanks, Mig.

    Favourite early Police track

My favourite early(ish) Police track has to be Does Everyone Stare. I think many of us can identify with the lyrics on this one, but its SC's drumming that really carries it - as usual!

    Cool Sony reel to reel

Provided the heads are still OK then the TC-850 is a nice machine, and shouldn't take too much work to get running well. It's an odd one because it lacks some of the niceties that arrived with the TC-755/6 such as Symphase and the F&F heads, which probably make those decks a safer bet, but it's...

    Goldring Lenco ‘88’

That's a lovely old thing. Hopefully under the grime it's nice and straight. I look forward to seeing it post-clean up.

    Bye to Hercules C130

Crikey, it seems not that long ago that the Hercules was the latest thing. I remember when they replaced Shorts Belfasts. It must have been around '76 when I used to regularly drive past Kemble airfield with rows of recently retired Belfasts lined up along the perimeter by the road. It was quite...
