I use the Spotify desktop app of my Macbook Pro and the USB output to DAC.

TBH, Spotify is very musical with the right settings and in this point not inferior to the other streaming services.
I think it makes sense from a "source first" POV to get first the source right before spending thousands on a DAC. Doing it in this order the reward is in most cases a greater musicality and more fun to listen to music. I am curious if Spotify will launch lossless this year...

it is even more complicated as the regulated DC output of the 4DR is +/-50V and the unregulated DC output is about +/-59V.
Maybe the unregulated output is too much for the SE230?
