    [FS] Old Equipment, Film/ various

The Tamron mirror lens is far from worthless. In excellent condition £100 would be typical dealer price (selling). Check out ebay listings and look at dealers like Ffordes Photographic, who still buy and sell film equipment.

QED 79 Strand - How to distinguish left and right channel?

Maybe you mean distinguish positive and negative polarities. In the old days, QED 79 used to have a rib down one core to facilitate that. But then that doesn’t look like the QED cable I am used to.

QED 79 Strand - How to distinguish left and right channel?

This is a two core cable is it not? So the left and right channels will have physically different cables.

Sports photography with 1DX 300mm 2.8L IS combo

I would suggest an alternative approach. Buy a s/h EOS 7D Mk2, which is an APS-C camera optimised for action photography, Being APS-C, your current 70-200mm lens will have an effective reach of a 320mm lens on the 1Dx. The 7Dii has a single dual cross-type centre AF point that gives faster AF...

    Home recording - 20s style.

I have a Denon DN700R solid state recorder which I think is excellent. It does exactly what you want. However, it seems to be discontinued. https://www.solidstatesound.co.uk/denon_dn-700r.htm The Tascam suggested as a replacement looks great but is quite pricey...

Canon 70-300 zoom lens, is this any good?

Canon 70-300 zoom lens, is this any good?

I’ve no personal experience of this lens. It was pretty expensive when launched, so the low prices it commands now can probably taken as an indication of how it is viewed in general. This is one review which is not very encouraging, though it is by no means a bad lens. How it compares with your...

Suggestions for a box that will give me Bluetooth and Airplay into my dac?

That's a very interesting product with a lot of features for the money. I have two key questions: 1. Does it support gapless playback? 2. Does the 4Stream app allow searching of a dlna media library (e.g. MinimServer) by Composer field? Both features are essential for classical music. Thanks Mark

    The Changing Price Of Music

When I started to buy CDs in 1986, the standard price for a full price disc was £11.99. As different price ranges were introduced, a mid-price disc was £7.99, a budget price disc £5.99 and a super-budget disc (Naxos) £3.99. The VAT increase of 1991 saw some odd pricing until everything got...

    First ever CD

Deep Purple ‘House of Blue Light’, probably Jan 1987. My first player was a Yamaha CDX3 bought in the Jan sales from the Virgin Megastore in Oxford. Bought on 24/1/87 for £177.95. The first CD I have a note of buying was Zappa ‘Does Humour Belong In Music?’. That cost £11.49 on 6 Feb 87.

    Beginners help/advice required

Just a point, a conventional two-way speaker has a bass / mid-range unit and a tweeter for the high frequencies only. I'm not sure what you mean by 'midrange / tweeter'.
