    [WTD] Faulty non working amplifiers

I've got a pair of diy monoblocks - not made by me but by a retired engineer (IanMac) from the now defunct cyrusunofficial forum. Solid metal cases (scruffy paintwork) that Ian made from old road signs I believe and containing Hypex UCD400 boards with the Hypex power supplies and soft start...

    Trouble finding speaker wire pants

Tony - a fixed sized rubbery Y - cut the outer sheath and feed the 2 wires through. Does a nice neat job. https://www.richersounds.com/chord-trousers-c-screen-shawline.html

Richer Sounds sell them. £3 per pair - just search for little trousers or big trousers depending on size.

Mono speaker for bedroom spoken word?

http://www.troelsgravesen.dk/5F-8422T01.htm These look interesting - small form and scope for making some dust. Stereo too.

    My DIY speaker journey

Really good looking cabinetry. Mine tend to rely on copious amounts of glue to fill the gaps.

I agree - it's got to be done. More of something that you already like = no risk.

    My DIY speaker journey

I did investigate going to the newer version of the 164 - has a lower crossover point I seem to recall than the original but my mate prised them away from me before I got that far. The original sounded good and Troels seemed pleased with the updated crossover so I bet yours sound great. I...

    My DIY speaker journey

I really liked the sound of my carbon fibre drivers - I was really pleased with my build using those but off they went to a new home and the money was used to reinvest in the new driver merry go round. James design looks great and I bet sounds great too. Be sure to let us know how you get on.

    My DIY speaker journey

That's what I always like to find out - some are brighter and more forward, some leaner in the bass and some ridiculously close. The ATCs are a class act - midrange dispersion is excellent and the blend of drivers is top notch. They go very loud without distress and vocals are really natural...

    My DIY speaker journey

I can't believe over 6 years have passed since I updated this thread - a lot has happened in that time - moved house, got 6 years older, had a global pandemic and watched politics go bonkers. I've built several more boxes over this time and wanted to update to share and show what this...

    Noise From Internal House Wall?

Years ago my eldest daughter told me there was a sound like a duck coming from her wall. Thought she was bonkers but when I heard it she was right. Turned out to be some bees. We could see them going in and out via the eaves. They cleared off after a few weeks and didn’t return. Can’t recall...

Fourth time I’ve asked you all but…

I’ve just started Parkruns and was going to skip this morning due to the heat. Once I saw your post I felt compelled to get out there and as the ad says just do it. Really hot but got round. Brings my total to 3. Great cause - donation made.
