    Audiocom Superclock

Andy says: "In fact, if using an external DAC that recovers a clock from the incoming SPDIF data, I'd not bother to put an expensive clock into the transport - it would be wasted, IMHO." In theory, yes, but in practice a decent clock can still make a huge difference even when the DAC...

    Audiocom Superclock

Hi Kit, In a two box system, the clock is fitted into the trasport, not the DAC. I'm sure there is still plenty more that can be done with the DAC though;) Regards, Colin

    Audiocom Superclock

Rusty, You've missed an "A" off of AA5..... this IS a modified Alpha, and yes, you are correct, the stock item is totally crap, but then so are most CD players, thats why the likes of Les, ALW and myself have thriving businesses:)

    Audiocom Superclock

Fatcat, I'm sure the Audiocom makes a great upgrade for £60, and that I'm not disputing, but £325 on a clock 4 with NC Supply+ a few qiud on op-amps, caps etc can transform a £200 CDP into something in the league of a £2K player. Now that is value for money in my books. I'm not going to be...

    Audiocom Superclock

Yes, but the Audiocom clock is only worth £60 Either you want cheap, or you want true performance for a sensible price? You pays your money, and takes your choice I supose!

    Audiocom Superclock

Please eveyone... don't compare the latest Audiocom clock to a Trichord Clock 2. The 2 is now 10 years old and sold as a cheap upgrade. The Clock 4 with a "Never-connected" power supply is the benchmark that you should use for comaparason, and really, there isn't one;) Regards, Colin

    Yamaha Classics

How about an original Mission DAD7000 CD player ( about 1985 ish) to go with this? I've had it in the classifieds for a few days, and no one seems that interested, but you can have it for free to go with such a great classic as that Yam. Just let me know if you want it. Regards, Colin

    tantal- capacitors

Yes, Andy is absolutely right, they are probably either current sources or a diagnostic. Colin

    Distribution amp advice sought

For multiroom distribution you are best off sending balanced audio. I am currently working on a design for some new Balanced send and recieve boards that are just for this purpose (I have run out of the old ones) You can distribute balanced audio down FTP CAT5 cable which is normally used for...

    Focal drive units

Avoid the earlier 8N series bass drivers. Apart from that the products are excellent. Focal drive units are used in some of the world's most exotic and expensive loudspeakers, so why not in yours;) Colin

    DSP Modification

There were two main objective with the Lexicons. The first was to improve the stereo performance and provide an analogue bypass for SACD and turntable inputs, and secondly to improve the movie sound. The MC1 and DC2 share the same main board so the modifications are the same for both...
