[WTD] NVA TIS interconnect cables, original mk1 silver braid.

Might be with saying how long these are and what sort of plugs they come with, if you can’t manage a pic

    Good Riddance & Sad Farewell.

This may have a downside. The poisonous Scouse witch may try and crawl back onto our screens now that she has lost the income and the spotlight of being an MP.

The only disappointment I feel on this one is that Clegg wasn't one of them. Still, it will be fun seeing which one of the 7 remaining will be the "leader". They could always job share and do one day a week each :p

Help in buying a thin felt mat.

I swear by the OL mats. They have improved every deck I have used them with. I thought they were made of treated felt though.

Thanks, Gromit. It's interesting to hear your thoughts on passive/active. It's good that you effectively get two amps in one. I have never got on well with passives, but once I discovered the other inputs, it cheered me up no end. It really is a nice amp to use, so I can understand you missing...

    Sonneteer Campion > Alabaster

I know Youtube videos are limited but there's one of the Orton which sounds very good indeed. It actually set me off wanting to try Sonneteer.

Now I like that description! It's quite big and lively sound with the Spicas but I really do like a bold and muscular portrayal. I still cannot believe the build and feel of the amp. It looks and feels far more expensive than many other more expensive amps I've had.

Jeez I hadn't realised they were going so cheaply. A bigger bargain than I thought.

Apologies Art, I misunderstood and was probably wound up by having my expectations dashed. I'm delighted that the amp sounds utterly transformed via the active inputs. Whether it's something that's more pronounced in some systems or whether I'm just ultra sensitive to it I'm unsure. its always...

Lots of love for the Kairn. Better grab one now before the EBay prices climb :)

Yep, I guess that's me :) I'm really glad the active stage is there. It completely resurrects the amp in terms of my own tastes. Thanks for the speaker suggestions too. It now works very well with Neats and Spicas, so I haven't even bothered with trying Minstrels again. I've been enjoying...

Thanks again, James. I am not really technical so your possible explanation is appreciated. I do appear very sensitive to gain issues though. Every passve apart from NVA (which I'm told has extra gain stages in the power amp to compensate) has sounded lifeless to me. It's great to hear the amp...

Now that's interesting. Did you experiment by any chance, James? I really didn't expect such a difference from different inputs on the same amp. It's not something I have experienced before. My only remotely similar encounter was in the 80s when I struggled with a Myst Tma3's attenuated CD...

Thanks Adam. I'm really surprised by the difference that switching inputs away from CD has had. The amp has not only come to life but the timing is markedly different. I'm actually enjoying listening right now. Although IME Petite 1s tend to soak up power more than the 3, I really don't...

Whilst it may not be preferred to Naim by some, the opinions here generally reflect the fact that it is s good amp and a viable alternative. To address the original post, its very good value for what you get and IMO worth a punt. Can't see you losing money or struggling to find a new owner if...
