I found a Hicap made a CD5X sound a tad too bold and a better balance was had with a Flatcap2X.

I think the main issue is the proximity to the tube behind the screen and given that ES14's are usually used away from the wall there can still be some distance between the magnets and the tube.

Massive difference. Are you using Sig interconnects? IIRC they could not be terminated with dins so that actually counts further against the Signature in a Naim system as you either use din adapters or the newer Naim kit has switchable RCA sockets. Din will always sound far superior between two...

Seconded. Got one between my CD5XS and NAC202. Also the three pin configuration was only used in Anthem, Indigo and Sarum I believe.

Yes. Only 3 are used. Chord do this due to the possibility of resonance in the redundant pins I believe.

Nice thought, but absolutely not true. Naim P/S's power only the pre amps and will have no effect on the power amp.

An interesting thread. Read while listening to my system with Tell Q Black and interconnect. Having used many well recommended cables over the years, these completely excel for a fraction of the cost of others.
