Thanks for the replies. I have changed the capacitors on the daughter boards I was wondering whether I needed to change the capacitors on the motherboard as these are not mentioned very often in the service threads the advice seems to be leave well alone unless these are faulty.

When servicing a Naim 72 pre amp how important is it to replace the capacitors on the motherboard. Many thanks

Sorry the make of the switch should read Reinach the part number I think is a 410200

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions, However we can eliminate the RCD being at fault as I have 2 Naim CB250 from my early active days my other 250 works flawlessly and has never tripped either mcb or rcd so the fault clearly lies with my other 250. I like the pun btw.

My 250 is one of the very early sleeved ones with red wrapping on the transformer it dates to 1982.The amplifier has never tripped the mains before and has just started doing this yesterday after switching and resetting the trip twice. The circuit breaker in question is a Hagar CD263U 63 AMP...

Many thanks for the information I need the wire guage as the wire on my even older hicap has coroded and broken off just above the cap terminals I hope it will be long enough but just in case I may need to replace the cable

Switched on my Naim 250 this evening and it tripped the Mcb so reset mcb same result any ideas to what could be causing the problem. Thanks

My Naim CB hicap is working fine but hasn't had a service for about 20 years, if so looks pretty simple to service any ideas who can supply the large caps. Also can anyone advise on the gauge of cable used in the hicap. Many thanks
