Seriously if you can pick up a manual 2.2 turbodiesel Freelander 2 (circa 2014-15) you can't go wrong. There are examples out there with around 50k miles on the auto trader for around 10-12k. The 2.2 was a Peugeot Ford joint development. Unfortunately it's not ULEZ complient so I don't drive it...
It's actually been really reliable. I've had it seven years now and done 50k miles in it. It's a late 2012 model (just a base 2.2GS) but up to this year I've only spent on service costs and tyres.
That said I have in the past twelve months spent £4k.... New cam belt and water pump, turbo hose...
