    Scottish Politics

Nicola S being questioned on the Marr show this morning about the extended period to commit to Sterling post independence. Is this wise? I don't know if the BoE would be considering Scottish interests when setting future policy on interest rates. Isn't it better to plan to move quickly to...

Brexit: give me a positive effect... XII

Look, there have been plenty of events that cost thousands of jobs in recent decades. There were always people who were unaffected and dismissive of the change in place. We pinned a lot of money on advanced manufacturing at the end of the 80s. The bean counters didn't care, and the tax...

    Labour Leader: Keir Starmer IV

Traditionally, Labour would promise to outspend Tories by a mile, and present this as restoring some of the services people expect. Covid has changed all the traditional rules. The Tories can borrow and spend like there's no tomorrow, and people just accept it. So what does that leave for...

Brexit: give me a positive effect... XII

So where was the Brexit backlash in the local elections? Either the majority of the voting public feel Brexit was a success, which most on here deny almost daily, or they just don't care. It's probably the latter IMO. The arrival of a worldwide pandemic has set everything in context. People...

Interesting discussion on LBC yesterday. Seems the government are now concerned about the serious levels of investment the Chinese state has made in to UK business sectors. Osborne and Cameron were pivotal in this opening to China in their time at the helm. Yet people here think that being...

All purpose football thread 20-21 season II

What do the Man U fans expect? The Glazers won't give up control, unless someone offers a huge sum of money... And who would do that in a post covid era? I think they have valid complaints, but no obvious solution.

Brexit: give me a positive effect... XII

Absolutely. There is certainly a lot of appetite out there for investment. What is crucial is how bold we are when it comes to the exit from Covid.

To be consistent, the SNP could be another has-been party years after Scottish independence. It will have fulfilled it's purpose, and other parties might suit their needs better. The biggest trick Sturgeon will have to manage is the transition. The buffer of oil money revenue is no longer there.

Barclays use the term growth, so I will. You are entitled to call it what you want.

I just don't get the legal action. The EU negotiating team for the vaccine lacked diligence when it came to the contract. The member states should look to this team first. It is not inconceivable that they will need the cooperation of AZ in the near future.

Barclays expects UK growth to be strongest since 1948. That will be all those Brits spending the money they have saved up over the last year. Boris might just be the luckiest PM in years. He and his party are bound to ride any resurgence in the economy and claim it for their own.

Well, the Amazon drone trial in MK uses wheeled vehicles which are drones. I know one of the main people who helped set it up.

Where did I make mention of flying drones? There are already drone trials taking place, wheeled variety.

The future for deliveries must be automated trucks. I do know one of the Amazon papers talks about delivery by drone, but that's a little way off yet. Some ex colleagues are building a full scale simulation, but the terrible situation in India is affecting a lot of projects.

    The runners' thread... (part II)

Can I ask what you guys are using to report VO2 Max? Is it important? I switched from Garmin to TomTom Runner a while back, mainly because of the big display. I think my watch only does HR and progress etc.
