Cloud storage / backup for work

I use crashplan for all important docs and photos on home PCs. Works in background. Can be used with Mac I think too. Another well regarded alternative would be backblaze. Either should give you an offsite cloud backup of last resort but potentially slow and painful to recover everything from...

Pillows for a good nights sleep! Zzzzzz

We have some John Lewis goose down ones that are doing pretty well a few years in. They have a pretty good range across different fillings / firmness / price to.

    Photoshop Lightroom vs. Aperture?

You can do the same sort of thing (passing put to external application such a Photoshop) in Lightroom too. In fact wouldn't be surprised if the integration was actually better, what with them both being Adobe products. Have used Lightroom on pc for a number of years since version 2. Current...

    I need more Ethernet Ports

Agreed. Price seems a bit high from maplin though. Would recommend another online computer retailer - ebuyer for good range of low prices bits like this.

BMW, Jag, Audi or Merc estate?

Thinking of a similar sized/priced estate myself, although not for another year or so. Only started vaguely looking, so no test drives yet, but Skoda Octavia vRS diesel estate looks like cracking value for money, reasonable looks and good economy/CO2/tax...if you can see past the brand image legacy.

Streaming Audio: Do I "need" a two, or more, bay NAS

+1 fir Crashplan as a potential offsite backup solution - cheaper than most, and although not the fastest, it is more intended as a last resort, so at that point you would be thankful of anything. Also, I believe it keep unlimited history, so if you do accidental deletions you have a relatively...

    Building a Music server

Lots of general resources for things like vortexbox or installing other OSes and there are quite a lot of discussions around use of Microserver in particular. Mostly found what I needed through googling when required. Things of potential interest including a Russian firmware mod to allow use...

    Building a Music server

You do get a lot of bang for your buck with the Microserver but it will be a bit more effort to get up and running than a simple nas. Does give you a lot more flexibility going forwards though. Can run vortexbox on them to use it as a main media server, although default/cheapest version does...

    Building a Music server

HP Microserver is great value - currently back on offer with £100 cash back, so effective cost is only £110. Can install Linux or one of the open Solaris variants for zfs. Uses ecc memory. Comes with 2GB ram and a single 250GB hdd but has caddies to fit a total of 4 HDDs, so could go to 16TB...
