    Codeine.

Ibuprofen (including branded over the counter versions) are a no-no for folks taking meds for cardiac issues, not sure the exact details but my GP stopped me having them (Naproxen) on those grounds. A pity because Naproxen really put the 'killer' in pain killer! Jim

System Reviews-Why I love my own system

Perhaps, but unless I missed it Mr Magoo you don't tell us what they are! Jim

    Codeine.

I was prescribed codydramol for arthritic pain but of course the Paracetomol content restricted use to 2 x 500mg 4 times a day which meant that there was either 6 hours between doses or a long period without any relief. The doctor changed the prescription to separate pills of paracetamol and...

    Specs lens cleaner

The cleanliness microfibre cloth is key. Wash the cloths in normal laundry detergent but don't use rinse aid. The wife swears by the Aldi wipes, but I use a spray. Either way a final polish with a clean microfibre cloth is essential in my view. It's obvious when the cloths need washing because...

Is TonyL rich enough already ;)

It can be a little frustrating, that having researched a purchase and completed it, the banners are driven by that activity and no longer of interest! The other important thing to remember is that (unlike links within threads) the ads don't open in a new tab but actually move the current tab...

Tidal: Am I out of touch?

On one amazon device (a Fire TV Stick) I pay £3.99. I find it useful for checking new releases out which have been reviewed or recommended elsewhere. As recounted above by others, it can save expensive mistakes but I don't use it for routine listening. The stick is plugged into the back of an...

    What makes it a 'classic'?

Oh yes, have had a good few of those:-) Jim

    What makes it a 'classic'?

Age of course, but surely desirability is key - if there is little demand used it will disappear in short order. Jim

    Early retirement… who did it?

I worked for a major company from leaving school and used to say that if I could save enough to tide me over from 55 to 62 when the company pension kicked in then I would pack it in, rather than carry on contributing to the pension for little extra, max service having been achieved I was made...

    New Mc cartridge

95% according to Ortofon's website:p Hope so - I bought it. I wouldn't buy used tyres though, even off NEWGUY;) Jim

    Buying a secondhand/refurb mobile phone.*

I bought a used Samsung from here - https://www.backmarket.co.uk/?gclid=CjwKCAjw1JeJBhB9EiwAV612ywfrXxCsuB0WLmb70_GrLT2-ze82twLkhe-rrVgbAkGOZu9evYzb0hoCGUMQAvD_BwE It was described as mint and proved to be so, perhaps I was lucky but would certainly risk it again if / when the need arises. Jim

    Linn Unidisk sc

I have one of these with a similar problem except CDs are recognised on insertion, but 'sometimes' sacds of dvdas aren't. I thought it was a software problem rather than hardware, is that not the case then? I still use it (infrequently) in a system with tv sound connected by toslink for when...

    Inheritance

Home and worldly goods / owt left in the bank to the grandchildren, Lord only knows what their future holds. Daughters in their 40's seem to be well fixed. Interestingly, the wife's family (3 sons, 5 daughters) have had no end of hassle over her Dad's will and disposal of his home in spite of...

    Naim SBL vs B&W 603s3

Might be a good thing. I tried SBLs with Quad and wasn't thrilled. Granted it was a 77 series power amp but with 85watts on tap I thought it would have coped better than it did. Start of the Naim escalator, I now have an all olive active system AND a newer pair of SBLs! Jim

The open invitation to have a listen thread

@JTC I'm up for that, next time I visit family in Dunfermline, and have a daughter and 2 granddaughters who would likely be thrilled with an opportunity to walk the dogs! Meanwhile in the (not so thriving) market town of Chorley, Lancs happy to meet and greet fishies - Naim olive 72 /RSL cards...
