    Spa for my Ma

My wife and her friends use The Malvern Spa, which is fairly local to you. https://www.themalvernspa.com/?gad_source=1

Too much temptation of good value indie bottlings on this page so far ....so may as well have another https://www.masterofmalt.com/whiskies/master-of-malt/secret-lowland-distillery-7-year-old-master-of-malt-whisky/

I bought a MoM 17yo Highland Park CS in December expecting great things. Most ended up in (very nice) Highballs. Whilst I’m in the confession box, have just bought a Hibiki Harmony purely to use as a decanter once rinsed. Will ten Hail Mary’s suffice?

I can't see many whiskies ever living up to such inflated price tags. One reason I see little point in entering these MoM competitions to win whisky worth several hundred pounds - you'd never drink the bugger! New one last night - Port Askaig 12 YO Whisky Exchange exclusive. Delicious, well...

    Beer at home

Cracked a bottle of Thomas Hardy's Ale I'd been keeping to share with my eldest for his 18th.17 years maturation in the bottle....the general consensus was that it smelled exactly the same as Teriyaki sauce - and they had a point! I quite enjoyed it though, and lived to tell the tale. I have...

I think it's very well made, light and moreish, with no rough edges. The problem for them (and the plethora of new distilleries) is that you can get plenty of very well presented core-range, age-statement whiskies for a similar price, not to mention the IBs. I followed it with a 14yo Signatory...

Train up to Shrewsbury yesterday and had already decided to support the local indy record and whisky shop (and pubs)…conveniently located within a stone’s throw. Nice chat and a few free drams. Usual suspects were a wee bit pricey, but finally settled on a Lindores - ex bourbon, sherry, STR...

A wee bit disappointing! After an hour in the glass…muted. Thin. Short finish. Is subtle kinder? Perhaps the nuances of aged whisky are beyond my ken. Or perhaps it’s just the nature of this Speysider. Neck pour of course, so…

Enjoying the first alfresco dram of the year with a good book. Laphroaig definitely tastes better outdoors!

The watch thread: pocket, wrist, sporty, showy? You name it!

I’m liking the canvas nato style (Watchgecko and Silvermans) currently. No good in the water though. Any good rubber straps out there? OEM for the SMP was best strap I ever had, but silly money now.

Ha, good man. What did you plump for? Staoisha, Caol Ila and Tulli for me. Cracking the seal on The Wine Society's 1991 Speyside this weekend as a Birthday dram, should be interesting..

Can't argue with the above offer (I hear Springbank is passable)...the Bunna 12 is a bit of a benchmark. Ex-bourbon and ex-sherry cask maturation. Islay without the peat. Heading towards £40 rather than £30, but for a good example of an all-bourbon matured whisky, my go-to is the fruity...
