    Good Drum Albums/Tracks/Fills!

I have always had something of a soft spot for Dave Weckl's 'Master Plan', much as I dislike that sanitized GRP product.

    Zappa Re issues

I haven't heard any of these new remasters so can't comment on the sound quality. I bought all of the Ryko albums and many other FZ releases on CD. I also bought the original vinyls from the 1960s onwards. Whenever I have compared any of the CDs to the vinyl ... Well there is no comparison! The...

    Philly Int. 40th box

I actually bought this one! It has some absolutely tremendous music on it but there is quite a lot that is nowhere near the standard of the best Philly sounds. if you can get it cheap then buy it. At full price I would suggest you pass.

Logging Back In After A Long Absence!

It's some time since I logged into PFM. I think it must have been two years ago when I was trying to get my old Linn Troika retipped. At the time I was using NAC72/HICAP/NAP250 (The HICAP and NAP250 were chrome bumper), IBLs, LP12/ARO/Armageddon/Troika, CD5/FLATCAP. I really shouldn't have...

    Those rare Nimbus Supercuts records

I have Joni Mitchell's 'Hissing of Summer Lawns' and Jackson Browne's 'Running On Empty' from this series. I should sell them ... but I won't!

    M2Tech EVO Arrives ( at last )

Hello Keith. I should have guessed that I might find you here as well! Hope you are OK and not overburdened with filling orders for the Evo! I haven't posted on this board for some time so apologies if I repeat what other members have already written ,,, I would urge people to hear the Evo. It...

    Goodbye Studios

I thought 'Face Value' was a really good album but I didn't much care for his subsequent albums. I quite liked 'Wind and Wuthering' and 'Trick of the Tail' but hated the later more commercial Genesis albums. I always preferred BrandX with Kenwood Dennard

    Orchestrion

Very interesting. I'd like to hear the album but I don't think I would buy it without prior listening as I have done with previous albums. It seems to sound rather like another recording with the usual players who work with Pat Metheny. I would have hoped for a more radical departure from the...

    Gil Scott-Heron instructions

I love Gil Scott Heron but this latest album doesn't appear to have been too well received by the critics. Is it any good?

    JAZZ LIBRARY: JACO PASTORIUS

It was an interesting broadcast that rightly conluded that Jaco's first solo album is ... just incredible!

    A Wizard a True Star

Haven't seen him since the Utopia 'Ra' tour. I loved 'A Wizard A True Star' back in the 1970s. I must dig it out and play it!

    Zappa

IMHO you need to listen to Zappa on vinyl. The CDs are pretty bad with 'Sheik Yerbouti' and the first 'Tinseltown Rebellion' being particularly poor. 'We're Only In It For The Money' has been recently restored with 'Lumpy Gravy' and released on a triple disc set entitled 'Lumpy Money'. It's...

    King Crimson

Interesting band. I saw them very early on ... Prior to the release of ITCOTKC. I'm not sure I like all of their work but they are always interesting

    Miles Davis 71 CD set!

For those who have ordered this CD box set .... Mine arrived on Tuesday this week. I would agree that it is a bargain and there is so much music to enjoy. There has been some feedback on the Amazon website regarding the quality of the replica sleeves in which each disc is packaged. Some...

    If Zappa was still alive?

I'm sure he would have disapproved with a vengance. He was very keen to safeguard the music that he owned.
