For me my last 'upgrade' was changing my tonearm to an SME V , not for sonic reasons , just because I cant be arsed to spend hours setting up a cartridge.

I have to say that prior to all this I was the biggest cable skeptic , however I now have experienced speaker cables affecting the sound. Some add midrange some add bass and some add treble, some add combinations of all three. If that's not a form of tone control I don't know what is.
