    Blaupunkt

If you record with a Nak it may be best to get a Nak deck for playback. The TD1200 is the "In-Car Dragon" with similar auto-azimuth ability, but not common and can be expensive. I don't know where the Amsterdam fits in the Blaupunkt range, or how it might compare to the Nak decks. I have a...

    Can big Tannoys rock?

Total cost was about a grand. I'm using them with Quad ESL 63s, and think the sound is very good. I don't play high volume, but haven't had any trouble when I've applied a bit of twist to the control. I plan to use them with my HPD315 Tannoys when the Quads go in for their refurb sometime...

    Directional cables. Explain??

I think it was DNM that claimed it was something to do with the manufacturing process (for their solid core wire at least), but it "goes away" over time. Something about how the insulation (I think) holds a charge in the direction the insulation was applied over the wire. As current passes...

    Can big Tannoys rock?

I'm not very handy, and usually burn myself when wielding a soldering iron, but I managed to assemble a pair of NC400s without too much difficulty. There are pre-drilled enclosures available, some including all of the hardware you need like binding posts and sockets.

    Notts Analogue "Ace Anna"

OK, I'll mention it. I have one for my Morch DP6. It came with the arm which I bought used. It looks quite similar to the Mint. I also have a Feickert protractor (too many arms to get arm-specific protractors for all of them). I've set up the DP6 with the Feickert, and checked with the Wally...

    slate and ply 401

Whether isolating with something squishy or coupling with spikes is best will be dependent on a few things: Is the plinth massive and solid or lightweight? What's the support? What's the support standing on? Unfortunately for me I haven't been in a position to do much experimentation, but I...

    The Hypex nCore build thread

Mine aren't even visible (on a shelf inside the speaker stands), though I plan to change that with an upgrade to the Ghent enclosures at some point.

Why do you need 2 turntables?

Why colour the sound only one way though, when you can pick your colour? Especially when you have a choice of colours that doesn't involve an LP12.

Why do you need 2 turntables?

I have 3 decks, with two arms on each. I'm just weird I guess. I also have several headshells, but could never get them to work with the SME V :D

What Japanese made Turntable you having?

I reckon that's for my pic of the cart-less Micro Seiki. Which cart would you like to see? I can take another pic with a cart showing, though I really couldn't be arsed to do it for you. The SME is still currently without a headshell or cart installed (but it's one of those fancy removable...

What Japanese made Turntable you having?

Micro Seiki DDX-1000 The SME has now moved to the left position, and the other base supports a Fidelity Research FR54.

Quad ESL 63s - any advice?

I love mine. It was quite a revelation when I swapped the Tannoys out after bringing the Quads home. When I auditioned them at the previous owner's home I was impressed, but it was a revelation when I got them set up at my own place. I'm driving mine with Hypex NC400 mono amps. Way more power...

Nottingham Analogue - Are they still around?

I bought a second arm base a couple of months ago. Still around.

    The Hypex nCore build thread

My build is entirely solderless in SiliconRay Romeyn cases, which I don't like (the cases), so I'm thinking of getting the Ghent cases. To be honest, my preferred layout requires a wide, shallow case, as I'd prefer the NC400 and SMPS modules to be side-by-side with their connector terminals...

I connected the XLR earth to an XLR mounting screw.
