    Rotel RB981 + RC970

Piksky, that's some unpleasant experience. I think I have been in a similar situation awhile back and it was extremely frustrating. Thank you for sharing your experience. kasperhauser, do you think this is because of the op-amps in the pre? Thanks for the comment.

    Rotel RB981 + RC970

These are some impressive values! I did read that it can manage 1kW but it's still hard to comprehend it when one looks what's in the box, so maybe the transformer is well specced.

jamesd this is a steal! How long ago was that?

    Rotel RB981 + RC970

Thank you for the replies guys! In the past I used a rotel integrated (one from the bottom of their range) and was pleased with the sound for the money. I got interested in the rb981 purely because of the almost double the power over my current amp and the price doesn't look bad. Also I can...

    Rotel RB981 + RC970

Hi Y'all, What's people's opinion on the rotel rb981+rc970? I am looking for something with more power and I though that this power amp and a pre might fit the bill. Thanks, Ivelin

    Some help finding cable...

This hirose looks very similar to what was used by Onix for their connections/cables between amps and power supplies; particularly the silver plug ones. Do you know the wiring configuration? I think they are 6 pins inside the connectors. A wild guess here but you probably need only 4 to be...

    choosing an inline attenuator level

No worries Wright, Mine are source attenuators and -10dB are the black ones and -20dB the red. Just to clarify that the colourful part is the plastic ring around the female end of the attenuators. Hopefully Rothewell have done this on purpose :D

    choosing an inline attenuator level

Hi @Wright, There might be a simpler answer to your question. If I am right I think the Rothwells are colour coded. I have both -10dB and -20dB, one is red the other black but need to find them to confirm which way round this is.

    Improving speakers technics sb-c350

Had a look and both woofers measured 4ohm, definitely rubbing and the surrounds even though are in a pretty good shape one of them has a small tear which I believe added to the decision to change them.

Grog, I will dig them out and will confirm their state. The last time I saw them the surrounds were fine, that was years ago though.

    Improving speakers technics sb-c350

Hi Grog, Thanks for the comments! I couldn't find anything about the original woofers apart from that they are made by Panasonic and are kevlar or some sort of kevlar composite. There is a service manual available online but it doesn't have any driver graphs just part numbers and filter...

    Improving speakers technics sb-c350

Hi all, I have a pair of technics sb-c350 which might need some attention. I had to replace the woofers because both were rubbing a bit when I got them 2nd hand. The woofers were generally working but I didn't like that rubbing. I suppose they just sagged with time. I changed them with...

High voltage diode for a microwave

Thanks both! Someone on Amazon had mentioned that the RG is for what the diode is made of. I would think that if it is a high voltage microwave diode they will be made of the same thing. Anyway I got a replacement cl01-12 and it still goes "pop". The diode and the high voltage fuse both burn...
