+1 for RAM. If it's cheap then it might be worth replacing it in effort to rule out.

@Ken C , glad you're happy with them. I'm in a similar predicament; smallish room, biggish speakers but the (controlled) bass is awesome. I need to get something on the walls to make the room softer. Enjoy!
