The best audio system on earth?

I see that the latest theory to dismiss the dark matter problem is to suggest that the universe is actually 23.7 billion years old. Sorry OT.

The best audio system on earth?

I agree but even so you get a surprisingly good idea of the overall sound. DIFFERENCES despite the replay kit used. The three ladies live show was the only sound I could live with. It was so pure.

The best audio system on earth?

Sorry but that sounds dreadful through my Grado headphones. In the original video the only realistic sound came from the live three ladies demo at the end.

The best audio system on earth?

I notice that this thread is about the best audio system on earth, Presumably not the most high fidelity system, which refers to a Quad system defined by Mr Walker's 1950s classical music? His period HiFi shows were something else which I experienced back in the early 1970s. No fancy...

The best audio system on earth?

Through my Grado headphones the purest music was from the three ladies singing live.at the end. The rest of the music sounded very thuddy perhaps some large orchestra classical music would be of interest to me. I guess it would empty the rooms.:(

    Death and more death!

Thanks Mick. Tool maker in Swindon?, I went to Uni in Cardiff, dropped out, worked in a bank then in MOD Met Office. Very much a hippy but tolerated by the RAF. Despite that things went well and I worry about the next two generations not able to follow in my footsteps.

    Death and more death!

Such a simple philosophy., I was born in 1949 like you. Can I ask what were you doing in the 1960s and 1970s? I guess it was nothing like what I was doing - free form.. Peace man!

    Death and more death!

A good example of left brain process explanation. Very consistent , I looked up Matt Dillahunty in Wiki and Youtube and he is making a good living expressing these anti Christian views . He has videos on most of the religions but as far as I can tell he has not tackled the obvious atheist...

    Take the grills off

Harbeths are designed with the grilles on to try to get a better flat response. I run my C7s with the grilles off which seems to add detail

Another mains fuse hits the streets

But can you tell a Marbo fuse from a Bussmann? I could hear a difference many years ago, the Marbo sounded darker:D

    Naim power line ????

I tried one for my CDX2 and the sound became blurred and coarse, perhaps showing the limitation of the CD player. I settled on an old standard Naim cable with white MK plug at one end. I cut off the moulded plug at the other end and relaced it with a £35 Furutech copper connector. Perfect...

[FS] Harbeth Compact 7-ES3 30th Anniversary Speakers

Alternatively my standard C7ES3s sound great driven by a 150 wpc ATC integrated, which makes them come alive, A great buy.

Why have I stopped listening to my music

Too much 'high end' ? Not enough flat earth. This was a classic trope many years ago., The answer then was a Linn/Naim system.

    ATC integrated amp

I have had the silver Mk 2 from new since 2010; It is still very satisfying in a Naim CDX2 Harbeth C7 system for Jazz and Classical music. Very solid sound and dynamic. The black Mk1 is more of a looker. cough.

Still playing with Quad gear after all these years !

Pardon my ignorance but why did it matter about the input to the 33? I am not convinced and why did Walker not mention this back in the day? It sounded awful in 1983 as did many CD players in many systems I heard back then. This in a then common 33/303/ESL system.
