I think that the speed issue is just a matter of tilting the motor it's pretty much change in speed that can be done that way. About the voltage diffrence it's pretty normal.

I belive that doctorf's LP12 also is from 74 or erlier by the serial number. And he still got his.

Isn't that mostly for tube amps? in tube amps it's almost a must to use choke regulation. I haven't seen many SS amps use choke regulation. Regards Mikael
