MC stages inspired to the Phono Cube of 47 Laboratory

There are many more phonostages of this type (current amplification): Sutherland Audio BMC 47 Labs Arare Dynavector Lounge Audio Aqvox CEC, to name a few. I think there are quite a few more. Recommend researching a bit more to see which appeals.

    Class D

Happens here too. Still comes as a surprise.

    Class D

Good call, Bairnstorm. As an interesting aside, Marantz noted this Class D effect on the gain structure of amps. One of the designers said he keeps both traditional Class AB amps to use with older recordings alongside their new 10. I'm not sure how they account for it but their view is that...

    DACs with PCM63 chips??

Well, they're not exactly alone in their approach, if that's what you mean. Unless you're referring to something specific to their design?

    Class D

I leave the whole amp (PM-10) on. But then it is all solid state. The preamp in the PM-10 is the latest version of Marantz's SC7-S2; so S3 I guess. But if you can leave your power amp powered up all the time, that might help? Dunno. Your amp may not benefit from this. Mine seems to. Th other...

    Class D

For context, aside from triodes and pentodes (and classic cinema amps), I've also had extended experience of Class T too. At first, when I got the PM-10, I found some of my music listening to be as you described. All outline and no substance. My dealer recommended leaving the amp on all the...

    Class D

Sounds interesting. Would love to hear it. I'm enjoying my Marantz PM-10 as it happens, after having used tubes (SET and PP) for many years.

    Class D

What type of Class D does the Lyngdorf run?

    Alternative to Naim CDX2.2

Wouldn't it be worth trying though? Naim CD players are really worth the effort, in my experience. Same for the CDS3, which seems to use the laser for a VAM1250 transport. I think the VAM1254 laser is also compatible with it.

What was/is your favourite CD player

Lite Audio LT-One, Dac 83. Currently. I like and used to own a Marantz CD-7. It's quite nice and a beautiful creation. I preferred the AMR CD77 as a player at the time - another statement 1541 player - which better exploits the 1541A chipset to my ears. Actually, for that matter, I prefer the...

Audio Note DAC 4 or 5. Just how good R they?

[Chuckles] A therapist would have a field-day with this. Ever heard of the medical slang, MPP - a Mortgage-Paying Patient? What's curious about this deep-seated fear is how it manifests on forums almost always in one direction: objectivists policing subjectivists. Subjectivists rarely seem to...

    Bristol Show 2020

Have been looking for reports on this new AB3a combination with their 3/5a units. Thanks for this comment. Did you find that they sufficiently increased the overall dynamics of the system whilst keeping the core LS3/5a sonic values?

    which one make vinyl system?

They do. I'm just cross with them. It'll pass. Still have an older, mark one 3009, the keeping of which has taken on a whole new perspective.

    which one make vinyl system?

Anything but SME. If they wish to abuse their long-term user base, and prospective clients, they can have that right back at them. Buying today, I'd be into Audio Note UK and also Kuzma. Maybe Scheu, for old times' sake.
