A b&k xls300 sub and some svs feet to go with it. Experimenting with placement and settings but so far pretty pleased with it. It's added some body to the music.

I'm in the similar situation as you, live in a terraced house so mainly listen at lower volumes. My speakers are proac d2 and I auditioned several amps and settled on a sugden a21se. It sounded the best with my speakers at lowish volumes. So another amp to consider if you can get an audition...

I use a sugden a21se so the specs arent a million miles away from the A1. I use proac speakers with my amp so could look at 2nd hand pair of studio 100's. If he can strecth his budget a bit and accomodate floorstanders, d18's would probably work too.

we recently moved to a victorian property and the living room opens up to the dining room. I couldn't get the system to work in the living room area, it was just too awkward and there's a wood burner so don't really want that near my sugden. so the system has gone in the dinning room. not ideal...

Can someone please comment on the cd ripping functionality. Ive heard it can be a bit unreliable.

Yeh exactly. I struggle to remember what I did last week let alone what music I listened to and how it sounded. I own a mk2 and a gr and the difference isnt massive. I very much doubt anyone would be able to tell difference between a gr and gr2 with the same cart.

I really liked them. The tone of the music just sounded right, nice and open with body. I think I was in the fyne room just before and I much prefered the sound in the pearl room. I wasn't that impressed with the fyne speakers considering how much they were.

A bk xls300 sub ordered, to be used with proac d2's. Should be here in the next 2 weeks. Never had a sub before so this will be intetesting.

Has anyone had experience with one ? Doesn't seem to be much online about them. Am looking to add an external dac to my set up (node 2i) and like to know how it compares to other dacs in the same price point.

I'm in the same position as the op and was set on an external dac but the new eversolo streamers , particularly the A8 has caught my attention.

Add a subwoofer and upgrade my bluesound node 2i to something better.

My 2nd system (a dj set up) is vinyl only. My main hifi system is vinyl / streaming. I stream when I have music in the background or if its something i dont have on vinyl. But when it's a proper listening session, then it's mainly vinyl.
