    Balanced Input Options

That’s a lot, if you’re talking about DC offset I measure 6mv max on my pre out so no issue I don’t even use a DC blocking cap on the input.

    Balanced Input Options

No connected + side of the balanced out to + in on the amp, the common zero connects to ground on the inlet, the negative phase on the balanced out is left unconnected.

    Balanced Input Options

I ran an Avondale amp from the Balanced out of a Audiolab DAC for years by just connecting up the plus and ground sides of an XLR socket on the amp.Only downside is reduced signal level but if the system has enough gain no problem. No reason to put stuff in the signal path if you don’t need it.

    KT88 Williamson Balanced input?

One thing to be careful of though is don’t run both single ended and balanced together, just one or the other.

    KT88 Williamson Balanced input?

There are many DAC’s that wire their RCA outlets this way, I used to use an audiolab DAC and the designer confirmed this was how it was wired.

    KT88 Williamson Balanced input?

You can do what PD suggests but it just adds an additional loss in the signal path for no benefit,I assume your source has both single ended and balanced out if not you can still connect the balanced out to the Williamson by using the + and earth to the single end input.I’ve done this before...

    KT88 Williamson Balanced input?

Well I think you have 2 choices, build it as it is and supply with a single ended input. Redesigning a Williamson to be balanced is a major job only for the experienced who has some measuring kit, The alternative is to build an existing balanced design, I would suggest Alan Wrights PP-2C you...

Linn Isobariks - replacing the mid and bass drivers with Falcon units

The new drivers will take some time to break in ,the suspensions will be quite stiff to start with. It can take 50-100 hours before they settle.ee I’d put in the original damping material and then just give them a good run in before jumping to any conclusions. It may be their peramiters are not...

Linn Isobariks - replacing the mid and bass drivers with Falcon units

Shouldn’t be a problem, anything that reduces the volume of the sub chamber Is a good thing as the trapped air is not helpful to both drivers moving in tandem.

Courtiestown - Naim Amplifier (Avondale) Upgrade Project

Anyone interested in EI transformers I can recommend Magestic, used them a few times over the years.Just got a couple of 460VA units for some valve amps, not tested them under load yet but not a peep Out of them unloaded. As their a UK supplier not cheap though but their experienced in supplying...

I’d put the valcromat in last, what sort of veneer are you using it will probably add about a mm thicknes. If the insert still stands proud you could put a chamfer on the edges of it with a router

Personally I'd just follow what Trowles did, if you use t nuts make sure the holes for them are at 90 degrees, hard to do with a hand drill.Tighten them in by using a big washer on the driver side, don't hammer them in if you crossovethread them their a pain in the arse.
