Audionet ART v2 vintage CD player - PSU problems

One side looks to be a mirror image of the other - could you use that to trace the broken traces along with some pinouts? Failing that, you could rig up a simple 7815/7915 circuit just to get you going?

    Russian k75 capacitors

I tried some FT3 in a preamp, but couldn't warm to them at all. Not a big fan of the K73-16 either... but I have had good experience with MGBO (paper in oil) for decoupling, and K42y, and the K73-17 are a great coupling cap.

The Case of the Disappearing Ground Loop

Is there anything else you had connected or plugged in before you went away, that is now not plugged in ? Just wondering could it be something else in the system

My AD1862 DAC project with multiple ALWSRs

Have a look at the Miro1360 thread on diyaudio for a lot of AD1862 info. General advice is to not bother with the trimming - unless you have specialised equipment you won't be able to do it, and even if you did you wouldn't hear a difference. Well done on the build!

Whoosh from Audio Innovations amp on startup

Can you post a pic of the insides? You are generally better off trying to work out what the issue is rather than replacing on spec. Then when fixed you can make a decision on recapping for longevity etc. Boring I know, but probably saves you in the long run.

Whoosh from Audio Innovations amp on startup

does this only happen within say 10s of turn on? As the heaters warm up?

    Dublin HiFi show

I was there yesterday as well. Standout rooms for me were the wilsons (I think SabrinaX) and pass labs and then Gryphon. Both of those had a very nice open natural unforced sound that just drew you in I thought. Very relaxed show, plenty of room for everyone, great sound in rooms, very...

Significant sound differences between Quad ESL 57, 1973 and 1980.

Its actually difficult enough to measure the EHT voltages accurately - most HV probes present a bit too much load and then you tend to get lower than "real" voltages. once you know that, then you can compensate for it. Sheldon Stokes has an excellent guide to all things Quad, download it and...

    Quad 63/2912

mandryka- I don't hear any downsides. I haven't done any REW measurements of the room, so all I have are subjective impressions. I have swapped back and forth from 2 to 4, if for no other reason than 2 are much easier to house than 4. Like anything, some people may not like them like this, or...

    Hail Ruark...

I don't suppose anyone here knows of a suitable replacement for the domed midrange driver in the accolades? Even something close that needed the crossover modified a little?

Do anyone have the BOM for the PFM MultiPurpous Rectifier Boards about 12 years ago

I got a few of these printed for a project ages back that never came to fruition in the end. Anyway, I kept the link, but no BoM, but as posted above, I think that covers all the bases https://www.dropbox.com/sh/q9nwi9p1w0q9m2v/AAAqTpSiVNGVYR6ziG0kvyD6a?dl=0

    Quad 63/2912

Yes, I tried it here as Tonerei mentioned - I have been a long term user of stacked quad 57s, so I got to thinking why wouldn't you try the same thing with 63s. They are arranged side by side (as opposed to over and under like the 57s) with the 4 63s angled to hit the listening position - so...

What is the conventional wisdom on the Dynaco ST 70 mk. l?

I think the driver valves in the original ST70 are unobtainium - which is one of the things that drove the new front end boards. The output transformers are good, as with all valve amps they are fundamental to the sound. Also there is the option to use a solid state rectifier instead of the...
