Courtiestown - Naim Amplifier (Avondale) Upgrade Project

Ouch! I'm going to have re-do several projects with ETCs! Thanks for your efforts, experiments, and reporting. Flash

Courtiestown - Naim Amplifier (Avondale) Upgrade Project

Avondale do such a nice job on the build, and the prices are incredibly reasonable, so I just buy direct now.

Courtiestown - Naim Amplifier (Avondale) Upgrade Project

I know it's heresy , but try moving the 'briks closer together and even angling them towards the listening chair.

    Ergo E-IX owners' club

Sorry to be late to the party. I only just found this thread. Count me as a very happy owner. My pair is in my man cave as part of my vinyl rig (where it's safe from pets). Q1: Are you a current or past owner of E-IXs? Yes, current Q2: Which crossover variant do/did you have (free-space or...

Building the Ergo E-IX mini-monitor loudspeaker system

It's amazing how much bass comes out of these little boxes, and the quality is very clean as well. The integration between the large tweeters and the potent mid drivers creates a sense of completeness that soothes any desire for a gut punch woofer. I probably spend more time enjoying my IXs...

    nap 250 push button lens

Reviving this thread. I don't mind a new style LED switch, even round, as long it fits the CB250 hole and handles the current. Any suggestions?

QUDOS - the brilliant new amplifier boards from Avondale

Hi Mike! You've prompted an interesting idea. The FE regulation is really beneficial. By replacing the regulator boards in the 250 with HackerCAP's fit where the reg boards were, there could be a way to use the space where the original caps were for FE regulators. The Avondale CAP6's are too...

QUDOS - the brilliant new amplifier boards from Avondale

Hi Stack, I don't know about cooling off under load, but I've also noted that the HCR200 modules run fairly warm. I'm rebuilding my Avondale'd 250 with CAP6's in place of the regulator modules. The NCC220s should be fine unregulated. We'll see.

    Avondale NCC300 amp project ..

I remember the advice to build the regs first as given lore from Les. Oh, well, next time.... Nice work space, Alan!

    Avondale NCC300 amp project ..

Beautiful! I've likewise been eyeing a defunct G5 for a dual mono NCC300 build. Yours is an inspiration! Thanks for the build pix!

    Ergo E-IX Build

I think the Nova would be a good match for the IX's, although I haven't listened to that exact combination. I listen to my IX's through a "Naim" system (including Avondale 300s), and I've listened to comparable sized Focals driven by a Nova at a dealer. The Nova was surprisingly impressive...

    Ergo E-IX Build

Hi James, The IXs are each powered with a NCC300 converted NAP135. I split the crossovers, so each speaker could be bi-amped, but the drivers in each IX are currently powered with parallel runs from a single amp. Lower volume passages sound absolutely sweet and detailed. At higher volume...

    Ergo E-IX Build

I'm still very much enjoying my IXs. They are very even and natural. That said, I'm getting some saturation when things get loud. This could be anywhere in the system, but I'm wondering if it might be worth upgrading the inductors in the crossover. The inductors are currently Jantzen P-Cores...
