I want to hear how it compares to its peers such as the 2M Bronze and VM760, both of which have well sorted replaceable styli too... Hopefully they've sorted out the old fashioned internals which give what's these days a large mid kHz suckout right where you don't want it. They'll probably not...

You can tweak a Rega Carbon by fitting a Thakker EPO-E stylus (or a Dual DN251E) to it (EPO-E not a bad bonded elliptical diamond in my opinion and mine is similar quality in finish and 'sound' to the newish AT95E I have). I'm not a fan of Regas own UK made MM's and never have been I'm afraid...

A very late reply, but I may be able to shed a little light... The three 'KJ' models mentioned were from before Audiomaster (and Robin Marshall's involvement) started I believe and were basically a 6"? twin cone driver in a box of different sizes and I seem to remember a wad of stuffing loosely...

Hi Phil, you always seem to hear things others either take for granted or don't hear at all :D If there's an ongoing issue, you really need to contact the supplying dealer (as that's who your contract of sale is with) and get him and Rega to sort it. As you know, I sold many hundreds of Regas...

To answer the OP. With the experiences I have, I wouldn't use Chord Odyssey myself, as it's too characterful in the systems I've used it with. Your mileage may vary though...

Rega bias correction is always a touch on the high side and of course it's fixed in current lower model Regas. I suppose I'd have looked for an elliptical stylus for the Carbon (I have a Thakker EPO-E stylus for a spare AT91 body and it's Jico made - I believe - with a nice bonded well finished...

Rega are very good people to deal with, but you need to go via the dealer.

The D7 was a good box as I remember, with good looks and a lively clear sound that never takes your head off. No idea if they've changed the tweeter but they're a friendly bunch, so should answer politely and promptly if they have and want to tell you about it... A shame they're so expensive in...
