New Rega Nd7 Moving Magnet cartridge

I want to hear how it compares to its peers such as the 2M Bronze and VM760, both of which have well sorted replaceable styli too... Hopefully they've sorted out the old fashioned internals which give what's these days a large mid kHz suckout right where you don't want it. They'll probably not...

    KJ Speakers

Late reply as usual - if the price was right I'd consider it for very old time's sake :D

    Rega Elys 2 is back

You can tweak a Rega Carbon by fitting a Thakker EPO-E stylus (or a Dual DN251E) to it (EPO-E not a bad bonded elliptical diamond in my opinion and mine is similar quality in finish and 'sound' to the newish AT95E I have). I'm not a fan of Regas own UK made MM's and never have been I'm afraid...

    KJ Speakers

A very late reply, but I may be able to shed a little light... The three 'KJ' models mentioned were from before Audiomaster (and Robin Marshall's involvement) started I believe and were basically a 6"? twin cone driver in a box of different sizes and I seem to remember a wad of stuffing loosely...

From the Archives: Can anyone ID this bloke?

Bloody cheek - that's IVOR T!!!!! He was in his thirties back then (SME fitted to a push-button LP12) :D As for the red jumpere'd cross legged chap with a permanent ridge on his forehead

Harbeth XD - What's The Difference

I think there are two Facebook groups. One is definitely audiophile/audiophool based where analogue (vinyl and tape) rules absolutely, the systems shown full of all manner of 'audiphile stuff' are lovingly set up as shrines to the HiFi and anyone trying to help lift them out of the 1970's into...

Harbeth XD - What's The Difference

I've been able to follow Harbeth since 1977 and it's been an interesting journey for me. Alan said in a HUG post not long ago that he balanced his older models a bit on the 'restrained' side (I'm being polite) and with a slightly excessive bass in the HL5 family, at least at first and especially...

    Rega motor noise

Hi Phil, you always seem to hear things others either take for granted or don't hear at all :D If there's an ongoing issue, you really need to contact the supplying dealer (as that's who your contract of sale is with) and get him and Rega to sort it. As you know, I sold many hundreds of Regas...

    Upgrade to internal speaker Cable

To answer the OP. With the experiences I have, I wouldn't use Chord Odyssey myself, as it's too characterful in the systems I've used it with. Your mileage may vary though...

Rega Planar 1 skipping with Bias-2 installed

Rega bias correction is always a touch on the high side and of course it's fixed in current lower model Regas. I suppose I'd have looked for an elliptical stylus for the Carbon (I have a Thakker EPO-E stylus for a spare AT91 body and it's Jico made - I believe - with a nice bonded well finished...

Rega Elex-R - hot to touch?

Rega are very good people to deal with, but you need to go via the dealer.

    Integrated amp for P3 ESR

I've no idea if I ever replied to this thread, so apologies. The P3 ESER is sweet enough as it is, so my suggestion is for a neutral to more assertive amp, if not a hugely powerful one as the bass driver, although good here, still has limited travel and will NEVER fill a room as the larger...

Three cartridges made audio technica based on the AT95

Late reply but here goes - thanks for the PM Nigel, I've only just found it... The K9 started off with a metal body and this remained during its most popular lifetime in the 80's. The K5 had a conical tip as I now recall and the grey plastic mount. I caused a sarcastic chuckle with the Linn...

    SPENDOR D

The D7 was a good box as I remember, with good looks and a lively clear sound that never takes your head off. No idea if they've changed the tweeter but they're a friendly bunch, so should answer politely and promptly if they have and want to tell you about it... A shame they're so expensive in...
