    DSL-710A Stuck Drawer

Thanks Craig - what's different about this situation is that the drawer opens and closes when there is a CD/DVD present but won't open when there is no CD/DVD present?

    DSL-710A Stuck Drawer

I put this to one side before properly reassembling and of course we still have a problem! With the top cover of the DSL-710A screwed back on (two very small Philips screws) the drawer ONLY opens and closes when there is a CD/DVD present. If there is no CD/DVD the drawer will close but will...

    DSL-710A Stuck Drawer

I have a Linn Classik Movie Di which has a DSL-710A with a stuck CD/DVD drawer. First question - is this a belt drive or direct drive mechanism? Second question - how do I disassemble the DSL-710A? ***UPDATE*** I Posted too soon as I got the top cover off the DSL-710A and removed all the...

Linn Classik Movie Di - DOA

It's taken many months of searching but I think I have found some details of the SMPS output: - SMPS_Output by Alistair McNeill The 8-pin connector goes to the Power Amp board which looks like this: - SMPS_Input by Alistair McNeill The DEMAND connection to the P700 appears to go here but not...

Linn Classik Movie Di - DOA

Thanks linnfomaniac83 - basically the SMPS is scrap as all the FETs, output diodes and some caps were shorted and irreplaceable due to the way that Linn have soldered through the PCB to provide a heat sink! I have, however, obtained a Linn Miniline Universal PSU to play with. Only problem...

    Linn Classik - DEAD!

Sorry to hear about you being poorly and other issues - hope things get better in the near future. Thanks for contacting David but my own Linn Classik was returned to the seller on eBay. I got a full refund as it was wrongly described! My current drama is with a Linn Classik Movie Di but that...

Linn Classik Movie Di - DOA

I assumed that I had three options with this Linn Classik Movie Di:- 1. A replacement SMPS - impossible to obtain! 2. A circuit diagram/schematic - I've been unable to source anything that matches what I have? 3. Details of the outputs from the SMPS to the Amp board - there is a ribbon cable...

    Linn Classik - DEAD!

My experience at 'fixing' Classiks is fairly limited but I am aware that they suffer from over-heating problems due to poor ventilation, amongst other issues. This usually impacts on capacitors in the power supply which need to be replaced. @linnfomaniac83 is certainly the person to contact.

    Linn Classik - DEAD!

The boards on the inside of this Classik showed no signs of having been worked on, from memory, so I can't confirm or otherwise that the ribbon shorting was as a result of a soldering iron encounter?

    Linn Classik - DEAD!

The Linn Classik was completely DEAD and returned to the seller as it was incorrectly described on eBay. I got all my money back including p&p. So unfortunately I can't help with your problems JimakoBee but there are others on this Forum with a lot more knowledge and experience than me. If on...

Just a gentle BUMP to keep this Thread alive in the hope that someone can help with any of the options listed above or is able to suggest any alternatives?

Linn Classik Movie Di - DOA

So progress with this Linn Classik Movie Di has completely stopped as I am unable to source:- 1. A replacement SMPS 2. A circuit diagram/schematic 3. Details of the outputs from the SMPS to the Amp board? Can anyone help with any of these options - thanks in advance!

Linn Classik Movie Di - DOA

Thanks mickhick1 - it will be interesting to compare and contrast your SMPS? I had a standard Linn SMPS removed from an AV5125 when I upgraded to Dynamik but sold it on many years ago!!!

Linn Classik Movie Di - DOA

Thanks Mynamemynaim - I agree with you and have no hesitation in looking at a non-Linn SMPS of which there are innumerable for sale on the likes of eBay and other places. My problem is that as I don't have a circuit diagram/schematic or any clues on the PCB I am unaware of what the output...

Linn Classik Movie Di - DOA

Proving impossible to remove the FETs without damaging the board because of the way their Drain tabs have been flow-soldered to the underside of the PCB through a matrix of vias which acts as a heat sink! The board says PCB254/L4 if that helps? So looking for a replacement SMPS, even non-Linn...
