CD,s for me.Can be cheap as chips and with a decent system they are perfectly acceptable sq wise to my old ears.
At 77yrs I don't feel the need to start all over again with vinyl.
I did sign up for the free Spotify but after an initial few tries I simply haven't bothered.
My knowledge of electronics can be written on the back of a postage stamp but I gather that if money had been no object Naim could have developed a better implementation .The cost to the customer would then be much higher of course.
I would agree with ddd that if I decide to go active with...
Thanks everyone, as I hoped lots of food for thought.
Is anyone able to comment on the SQ of the Avondale crossovers ? They certainly look the business as you would expect from Les.
Arkless, with your knowledge and background can you elaborate a bit on how to go about doing it right ? Maybe...
Interesting reply ddd. I think this is the first time I've seen someone say they preferred passive. As you say your experience may have been down to the unmatched amps
although one would have thought that the snaxo would accommodate that.
I take your point about Avondale. I would not doubt...
I've had my SBL's for about a year now and feel it's time to consider whether or not to go active.
First there is the cost to consider. I would need a snaxo and an additional amp.and cables. I currently have a Teddy Pardo ST60 amp and i also have a spare hi-cap.
Is it all worth it?
As an...
I play CD's exclusively . Tried Spotify and downloaded the trial HD tracks but somehow neither clicked with me possibly because I like playing the full album
and my tastes are well covered by the discs I already own.
I can appreciate the use of Spotify in previewing music you might want...
Makes sense Zippy and as I have considered a soundbar for some time I will certainly bear your advice in mind .
I wonder what would be the smallest reasonably priced i.e. cheap pair of speakers that would work well alongside or even under a TV ?
Anyone else had the same idea and if so...
That's interesting Graham.I wonder what Naim would advise if you asked for one replacement mid driver. They couldn't easily match one to the one you have left so logically you may have to purchase them as a matching pair!
Anyway many thanks for the info.
So Graham the bass/mids are the same, just not matched ?
I have indeed experienced the same problem with the Credo crossovers and as you say a simple fix but I always felt this is a design flaw given the strain that Naim speaker cables can put on this point without proper support.
Thanks.
