I ran a 3m bassline blue for a while and it was much better than the stock. I think you could DIY one with single strand 14 AWG upocc copper in teflon and a good neutric connector for much less than the retail price of the bassline blue. Use a high quality silver solder.

Sadly it still has said fault o_O. I can only assume it has not replicated the noise in the workshop after the work. I will look at the switch. If one of the leads was loose on the driver could it sound like this , with no signal into the amp ?

Seems to me it's very subjective and a bit of a dark art. Paul says that using lots of feedback can impact it, my own amp is a zero feedback design. I'm pretty sure having zero feedback design is a major factor in my experience of almost everything matters.

I like to push mine quite frequently to 90dB levels, I'm sure that will make things run hotter which will stress the components, especially the electrolytic caps. Sometimes my system can be on 12 hours a day, it's regularly on for 6 +.
