The mass on the WT tables is in the right place….the platter. The Simplex plinth is very light and the arm tube would probably float in to the air if it wasn’t tied down…..but the important thing is that it doesn’t resonate, and there’s effectively no arm bearing . Ingenious!

The latest ones ( well I’ve had my Simplex2 for about 4 years) are superb if you can tolerate the unusual build.
to be honest, once it’s playing you just forget all that .

Use as little “damping “ as you can get away with , the sound is livelier that way

Probably a silly question, but have you heard the modern Well Tempered decks? ( Simplex2, Versalex etc) . Plenty of original thinking there and they sound pretty different to anything else I’ve heard ( although I’ve never knowingly heard an idler)

I second the Nait thing. I have a Nait 2 I wheel out occasionally and they sound glorious on the end of that ( although definitely not on the end of Nait 3s)

i recently replaced an old but low mileage XX2mk2 with a new DV20XL2 and was shocked at the improvement .
