good luck with the sale. I had one of these and loved it. only sold to pay for a wedding. I had it running 3k speakers and used the internal phono stage for my 4k vinyl end. it has plenty of power and the headphones and the phono use the tube pre section. fantastic amp for the money.

is the 518 just for the digital signal to come in from the CD and be sent out via the AES? I wouldn't have to use the pre side of the unit would i? but its not a dac?!

I Like the smaller form factor of the Shanling. I did look at the atoll but only at the 100 which i know doesn't have the AES.

Possible cd upgrade coming. Just planning ahead Please list any cd player/transport you know of that has the AES digital output. Many thanks Dean

Hi Dan, there is only 1 mm setting the rest are MC and the ohms is just to low. Like music in a bucket lol. I will carry on the good fight but might be a new rega cart on it soon to see if that makes much of a difference . Lucky

just dug out the instructions. 36,5dB. so quite a drop in terms of volume which would explain the difference with the phono stages.

I would highly recommend a gold note ph5 if you can demo one in your system. Only rega cartridge I have used it with is a carbon lol. But with hana sl and audio technica at33sa it was really nice. Good luck
