    The runners' thread... (part II)

Did the Parkrun this morning, first in age group (a first for me) but before you congratulate me, it was a field of 7. Not too bad a run, overall finished 126 out of 341.

Listing these on a certain auction site this evening, so one last chance to buy these lovely speakers.

That sounds like a very respectable pace to me, well done.

    The runners' thread... (part II)

Completed the Bath Half this morning - something of a beast of a run, too warm and humid, which meant that I missed 5 out of 7 targets I set myself but at least I completed it and my time was better than my first attempt in 2022. The first half went well, probably too quick, but then my legs...

What are you reading these days?

Ulysses is completed! Feels like an achievement but most of the credit must go to the cast at RTÉ. Everyone I read about this book tells me that I will get more out of it when I read it again. I don't think I'll be doing that in a hurry.

HiFi in standard Victorian sitting rooms

I'm in a Victorian terrace and I have my speakers either side of the fireplace on the slightly longer wall (the room is about 4m x 5m into a bay). Not much option as to where to put them given the room is our main living room but it seems to sound OK.

I inaugurated my new pair of Hoka Clifton's this morning in anticipation of the half marathon this coming Sunday. Just an easy 5K. A couple more of these before the big day.

What are you reading these days?

Ulysses by James Joyce. I've had this on my shelf for years and decided that I was going to read it in 2022 to mark the centenary of its publication. I managed about 4 chapters before giving up. However, I picked it up at the beginning of the year and found a link to RTÉ's dramatisation of the...

    The runners' thread... (part II)

Saturday's planned 20K run was disrupted by unexpected snowfall. So I prudently decided that I should start my tapering for the half marathon early and gave it a miss. I ran 11K this morning when it was cold but dry, not bliss but quite good fun.

    Blue Note Classic Vinyl Reissues

Thanks to @shrink for alerting me to 'Destination Out' by Jackie McLean. This had been on my radar for a while but seeing the price on Amazon I took the plunge. Just listened to the first side - excellent stuff!

    The runners' thread... (part II)

Three weeks tomorrow until my half marathon. This morning was an 18K effort at quicker than race pace, which resulted in a PB, so I'm feeling more optimistic about reaching my race goal of taking 2 minutes off last year's time. I shall do a couple more shorter hard efforts and the rest will be...

    The runners' thread... (part II)

Well done. I did this about 5 years ago and I'm now running 3 or 4 times a week and training for my third half marathon next month. I was very sceptical when my wife suggested we do this but I'm so glad I did. (I might add that my wife's running shoes never left the box they came in.) Enjoyed a...
